The Senior DevSecOps Engineer is responsible for implementing various processes, tools, and methodologies to balance needs throughout the software development life cycle, from coding and deployment to maintenance and updates. The Senior DevSecOps engineer works to optimize the development process and bridge the gap between software development, engineering, and management to speed up the software development process. They strive for continuous improvement and build continuous integration, continuous development, and constant deployment pipeline. Encourage building automated processes wherever possible. This role will require collaboration with data scientists and software engineers to deploy secure code that implements algorithms and provide insights to end users. The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of experience in DevSecOps, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Duties and Responsibilities
Design and maintain reliable CI/CD pipelines
Automate infrastructure so environments are predictable and supportable
Support containerized platforms in secure, regulated environments
Lead software and cyber engineers to solve delivery problems
Provide solutions and technical guidance based on program needs, priorities, and technical requirements/constraints
Establish secure defaults, templates, and golden paths for developers (secure base images, hardened Helm charts, reusable pipelines)
Establish end-to-end software supply chain security
Mentor engineers on secure coding, deployment patterns, and best practices; contribute to documentation and internal standards.
Support audits, evidence collection, and continuous compliance posture reporting.
Required Qualifications
Currently hold an active US security clearance or be able to obtain one
CompTIA Security+ Certification
5+ years of demonstrated experience with:
Containerization (e.g., Docker, Podman, Buildah)
Container Orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes, OpenShift, Helm)
CI/CD automation tools (e.g., GitLab, Jenkins, AWS Code Build)
Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation
Linux systems (e.g., RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu)
Automation and scripting (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell)
Excellent communications skills necessary to communicate technical requirements with technical and non-technical team members and key stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, physics, or related field
Demonstrated experience with:
Cloud computing infrastructure or development (e.g., AWS, Azure)
Full stack software development (e.g., Java, Python, TypeScript, React, SQL)
Atlassian suite tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket)
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Hybrid work environment. In-person collaboration is required to support engagement with the software engineering team. In addition to in-office days, employees have the flexibility to telework (with supervisor approval) on designated days or as needed, provided they adhere to established communication protocols and fulfill their work responsibilities effectively. Additionally, travel may be required to customer and subcontractor sites as well as other office locations.
Clearance Requirements
Some positions will require access to U.S. National Security information. Positions that require this access will be required to receive and maintain a U.S. government personnel security clearance (PCL). In order to qualify for this position, the candidate must be a US Citizen and either currently possess this National Security eligibility or be able to complete the investigation application process with a favorable determination and maintain that eligibility throughout their employment.
