Position Overview
Quantum Science Solutions (QSS) is seeking a Software Engineer that will be developing and sustaining mobile applications and geospatial capabilities that enable mission operations. This role requires close collaboration with the team, corporate stakeholders, and community-wide customers to translate operational needs into technical solutions.
The position focuses on mobile application development, geospatial technology integration, and enterprise data services. The Software Engineer will serve as a subject matter expert for geospatial technologies and mobile platforms, supporting software development activities, managing development workflows, and integrating mission data within enterprise applications.
Key Responsibilities
• Work closely with the team as well as corporate and community-wide customers while supporting priorities established by the project manager.
• Develop mobile applications and maintain proficiency in both Android and iOS application development.
• Work with customers to translate operational needs into technical requirements.
• Track program progress, risks, issues, and dependencies.
• Serve as a geospatial technology and mobile Subject Matter Expert (SME).
• Support technical meetings with vendors to communicate program and mission requirements.
• Provide technical advice and direction based on knowledge of mobile phone hardware, Android/iOS operating systems, commercial software, Free Open Source Software (FOSS), Government Off-The-Shelf (GOTS) software, and security mechanisms.
• Interact with the Enterprise teams to integrate geospatial mission data within a common enterprise web application.
• Support system administration, database administration, file management, and access management functions using Amazon EC2, S3, and related AWS services.
Mandatory Skills & Experience
• Experience with strong knowledge of Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) applications and services.
• Experience developing mobile applications for Android and iOS devices.
• Experience working with small teams to manage software development activities.
• Experience working with customers to define functional requirements, concept of operations, and UI/UX design.
• Experience managing iterative software development releases.
• Experience tracking development sprints using JIRA.
• Experience managing source code in GitHub and GitLab.
• Experience managing CI/CD pipelines and automating build and deployment lifecycles.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration, including building, deploying, and managing scalable Docker images across production environments.
• Experience developing test plans.
• Experience providing technical support and training.
• Experience with Visual Studio Code, Android Studio, Xcode, Node.js, and JavaScript.
Preferred Skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience documenting processes and procedures.
• Experience with tool idea conceptualization and requirements design.
• Experience working with Windows, UNIX, and Linux platforms.
• Understanding of emerging technical trends.
• Experience supporting technical operations.
Education Requirement
• Bachelor’s/ Advanced degree in Software Engineering or related discipline.
