Northrop Grumman Strategic Space Systems Division (SSSD) has an opening for Director 1 - P093 Payload Antennas and Electronics (A&E) IPT Lead to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, California.

As the A&E IPT Lead, you will be responsible for the cost, schedule, and technical management of the recurring manufacturing phase for payload antennas and electronics flight hardware deliverable to system I&T. You will report to the P093 Payload Project Director under Space Element of the Advanced Mission Systems (AMS) Operating Unit.

In this role you will:
  • Establish efficient IPT organizational structure including consolidation with PL-E hardware scope and staff; institute key leads and succession plan strategies for critical roles
  • Lead IPT execution including technical performance, staffing, and management of cost, schedule, and quality; monitor IPT monthly cost health metrics down to control account level; proactively identify cost, schedule, and/or technical opportunities and risks to program execution; develop and implement mitigation strategies and/or recovery plans
  • Manage cross-disciplined team including manufacturing technicians, sub-project managers (SPMs), Control Account Managers (CAMs), planners, PMEs, test conductors, engineers, business and schedule analysts, etc.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing and Operations (M&O) and Engineering functional organizations to take proactive initiatives to reduce/eliminate risk of late deliveries of units on program critical path - such as back-ups for critical resources, manufacturing and test process improvements, cross-training initiatives, additional/spare test equipment
  • Partner with Global Supply Chain (GSC) organization to mitigate significantly late deliveries of subcontracted modules and components; drive PWB suppliers to implement manufacturing process changes where possible to eliminate manufacturing defects and improve yield
  • Mitigate growth of flight hardware discrepancy reports (DRs), identify preventable DRs, and take actions to drive timely resolution of DRs
  • Resolve manufacturing and test facilities resource priority conflicts with other Space Park programs (e.g. NGP, SDA) without increasing risk to program schedule through timely engagement with respective program directors
  • Partner with BU future architecture development/proposal teams for A&E-related design and manufacturing strategies


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university
  • Ten (10) years of progressive engineering, IPT lead, and/or program management experience
  • Five (5) years of direct experience leading people, projects or programs to successful goal attainment
  • Experience in program execution and demonstrated ability to meet program technical, cost, and schedule milestones; extensive experience with Earned Value Management
  • Demonstrated ability to create trusted relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
  • Proven ability to lead a high performing team with evidence of being able to create an inclusive work environment that attracts, retains and inspires diverse and engaged teams
  • Proven ability to deliver effective communication verbally, written, and through well-crafted presentations across all levels of an organization
  • Demonstrated experience in flight hardware development and manufacturing programs
  • Active DoD Top Secret & SCI clearance, at time of application


Preferred Qualifications:
  • P982/P093 program background/experience
  • Familiarity with A&E hardware and mechanical manufacturing processes and procedures for structures, heat pipes, composites, machining, etc.
  • Proven capability delivering Class A space hardware on-schedule with IPT and/or Project Management experience across multiple phases of program lifecycle
  • Experience with relationship management of highly capable customers with daily communication cycles
  • Experience leading day-to-day operations on complex programs, with proven collaboration and coordination skills across internal and external stakeholder organizations
  • Experience with resource planning across multiple phases of program lifecycle
  • Leadership experience in effective change management and team motivation
  • Experience with risk, issue, and opportunity management
  • Demonstrated ability to make tough decisions based on limited information


Primary Level Salary Range: $203,900.00 - $305,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
