One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service:
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
In addition to meeting qualifications, your application package must reflect the applicable experience to meet the Individual Occupational Requirements for the 0671 series.
Major study -- hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration.
OR
(for positions above GS-5): Progressively responsible analytical or administrative, or clinical management or supervisory experience in the health care field. This work may have been performed in an operating health care facility or a higher organizational echelon with advisory or directional authority over such facilities. Work must have involved a close working relationship with facility managers and analysis and/or coordination of administrative, clinical, or other service activities, and provided knowledge of the following:

As a HEALTH SYSTEM SPECIALIST at the GS-0671-12 some of your typical work assignments may include:
- Serve as the Patient Safety Manager (PSM) with responsibility for administering the overall Patient Safety Program (PSP) within USTRANSCOM.
- Plans, organizes, directs, and manages, in collaboration with the Chief Nurse, Command Surgeon, the TCSG PSP to support and advance USTRANSCOM Global Patient Movement (PM) Strategic Healthcare safety and reliability objectives.
- Directs facilitates and oversees all aspects of investigations related to Root Cause Analysis (RCAs) and Sentinel Events (SEs), as well as other events deemed necessary for further review.
- Advises staff on civilian accreditation requirements for PSP performance. Researches, interprets, analyzes, and applies accrediting agency standards, as well as DoD and AF regulatory policies and guidance.
- Guides facility leadership in the performance of effective leadership safety rounds. Assists the Chief Nurse with development, planning, and coordination of a comprehensive reliability education program in support of AFMS goals and the NPSGs.

- Advising management on Quality Management (QM), Performance Improvement (PI), Risk Management (RM) and procedures to support integration of an agency's quality activities.
