Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Tier 3 Video Management System (VMS) Support Engineer to provide advanced technical support and engineering oversight for our enterprise video surveillance environment. This role serves as the highest escalation point for complex incidents, major outages, and system performance issues.
The Tier 3 Engineer owns root cause analysis, system optimization, and architectural improvements across distributed VMS infrastructure.

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Tier 3 Video Management System (VMS) Support Engineer to provide advanced technical support and engineering oversight for our enterprise video surveillance environment. This role serves as the highest escalation point for complex incidents, major outages, and system performance issues.
The Tier 3 Engineer owns root cause analysis, system optimization, and architectural improvements across distributed VMS infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Advanced Technical Support
- Serve as Tier 3 escalation for complex VMS incidents and major outages
- Perform deep troubleshooting across application, server, storage, and network layers
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and document corrective/preventative actions
- Lead incident bridge calls during critical security-impacting events
- Administer enterprise VMS platforms such as Genetec Security Center and Surveill
- Optimize recording policies and profiles, failover configurations, and storage performance
- Conduct system health audits and capacity planning
- Troubleshoot Windows Server environments supporting VMS applications
- Analyze network performance issues (VLANs, multicast, bandwidth constraints)
- Support storage troubleshooting and performance tuning
- Support VMS testing integrated with analytics
- Develop and maintain technical SOPs and user guides
- Work with Tier 2 engineers
- Perform software upgrades and patching
Required Qualifications
- 4-5+ years supporting enterprise VMS or physical security systems
- Advanced troubleshooting across IP networking, Windows Server, and storage systems
- Experience conducting formal root cause analysis
- Strong understanding of video codecs (H.264, H.265) and system performance tuning
- Experience supporting distributed or high-availability environments
- Onsite in Kingstowne, VA (0600 - 1430 Monday through Friday) with no travel requirement
Preferred Qualifications
- Manufacturer certifications (Genetec, Milestone, Avigilon)
- Experience in regulated or critical infrastructure environments
- PowerShell or scripting experience
- Experience participating in on-call engineering rotations
