The Office of Real Property Management is seeking two Workplace Strategist. A Workplace Strategist at Department of State must be both spatial and analytical. The Workplace Strategist will work with organizations within the Department to assess their workplace, finding ways to improve utilization and spaces required for staff to execute their mission. A successful candidate in this position must be responsive, flexible, and able to succeed within an open and collaborative peer environment. This role is intended to increase the emphasis on implementing a hybrid-work model by identifying and planning for organizations within Department of State, individual teams, and employee needs in advance of growth while streamlining efforts and tools to reduce overall cost. The candidate for this position must be an excellent communicator, with an ability to guide stakeholders in defining scope and effectively using resources.

The Senior Workplace Strategist at Department of State must be strategic, and data driven. The Senior Workplace Strategist will lead the development of an enterprise domestic strategy for desk sharing, hoteling, and remote work. A successful candidate in this position must be responsive, flexible, and able to succeed within an open and collaborative peer environment. This role is intended to drive the implementation of a hybrid-work model by developing enterprise strategies, evaluating portfolio performance using quantitative techniques, and reporting on organizational progress to all levels of Department leadership. The ideal candidate for this position is resilient and an excellent communicator. They must also have a deep understanding of real estate, space management, universal design, and sustainable principals.

  • Leads the development of the Enterprise Workplace Strategy and roadmap for domestic enterprise hoteling and remote work. This strategy shall meet Department business objectives, identify planning options, and include quantitative and qualitative data for the domestic portfolio;
  • Leads the development of a domestic secure space sharing strategy and roadmap. This strategy shall include the identification of required policy, design criteria, and business process updates.
  • Updates and maintains the Enterprise Location Framework (ELF) as administration priorities shift and in response to emerging world events;
  • Coordinates and synthesizes Future of Work (FoW) reporting, on behalf of RPM, on both an ad hoc and reoccurring cadence;
  • Develops and executes a comprehensive change management and communications plan for all projects within the Senior Workplace Strategist's areas of responsibility;
  • Supports RPM team members and the initiatives they are leading including the development of the Strategic Real Property Plans, Capital Plans, and other studies;
  • Continually monitors space use and performance within the portfolio and generates recommendations to address performance that is outside of the defined thresholds defined in strategic planning documents;
  • Works with AU team to maintain an accurate inventory of data use which is validated through periodic space surveys and coordination with Bureau EX Offices;
  • Develops and reviews content relating toSstrategic Planning, Space Management and Planning processes, procedures, and guidelines;
  • Responsible for identifying and recommending items for continuous process improvements in all Workplace Strategy activities;
  • Other duties as assigned


Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Required to be a United States citizen;
  • 5-7- years min experience with a bachelors degree; or 7-10 years of experience without a bachelors degree;
  • Demonstrated space management experience (1-3 years);
  • Demonstrated experience developing qualitative and quantitative measures for space performance (1-3 years)
  • Intermediate proficiency in office automation products including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, and other O365 products;
  • Experience with data analysis using Excel, PowerBI, Tableau, or equivalent application
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience developing PowerPoint briefings to display analysis results
  • Intermediate proficiency with space databases such as Archibus;
  • Intermediate proficiency with geospatial systems such as ESRI;
  • Intermediate proficiency with AutoCAD;

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in business administration, project construction administration, architecture, city/urban planning, facilities planning, interior design, or related area, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience;
  • Demonstrated space management expertise (typically 3-5 years);
  • Demonstrated expertise developing qualitative and quantitative measures for space performance (typically 3-5 years)
  • Demonstrated effective analytical, computer, and communication skills;
  • Advanced proficiency with space databases such as Archibus or similar;
  • Excellent communicator/negotiator, time manager and skilled at graphic presentations
  • Skilled at communicating complex data through reports
  • Advanced proficiency with AutoDesk products like AutoCAD and Revit;
  • Advanced proficiency with geospatial systems such as ESRI;
