The network engineer ing trainer will train , either in-person or virtually , Network Security Operations Center (NSOC) personnel on network devices found in the Medical Community of Interest ( MedCOI ) . The trainer will develop training materials and provide instruction on the baseline configurations of MedCOI network devices and amend training materials when needed to incorporate the latest changes, additions, and enhancements to these network devices . The trainer will work closely with NSOC team leads and engineering staff to stay abreast of changes to the architecture and incorporate those changes into the training material .

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Deliver virtual and/or on-site user training to the NSOC staff on best practices for managing and maintaining network devices found in the Med-COI . The government or team lead will assist in determin ing the curriculum and training schedules


  • Determine and analyze training needs for NSOC


  • Design, develop and facilitate training sessions for new and existing staff members


  • Develop training materials for the MedCOI architecture . T he trainer will leverage existing training materials and documentation to the greatest extent possible


  • Develop a training plan and instructional design material


  • Ensure training participants complete an evaluation survey designed at the end of training session and submit the completed surveys to the g overnment l ead. The purpose of the surveys is to gain feedback for additional or revised training


Tasks:

  • Initial On-boarding
    - Start with initial on-boarding requirements baseline (check " iSupport Onboarding Process" and broaden for all of NSOC)
    - Create/Organize training on NSOC initial on-boarding in regards to NSOC tools and architecture ( S ervice N ow, S olar W inds, jump servers, SERVIN , MEDCOI A rch i tecture)
    - Create team specific training to perform after following the on-boarding requirements have been trained


  • Attend and manage training classes
    - Record and t ag/name the recording appropriately so it is searchable in SERVIN and O ne N ote for future viewing
    - Determine if this training should be mandatory or optional for the specific team s


  • Organize training documentation
    - Gather training requirements needed from each team
    - Document objectives baseline
    - Determine if objectives should be mandatory or optional
    - Create a list of training videos


  • Document training needs
    - Work with team leads to determine if cross training would help in developing a more robust staff to include understanding new efforts or initiatives.


* This position is designed to be flexible, with responsibilities evolving to meet business needs and enable individual growth.

Required Skills:

  • 5+ years relevant experience in supporting training of a large network infrastructure


  • A strong working knowledge with Routers, Switches, Firewalls, and Virtual Private Network (VPN) devices


  • A good understanding of TCP/IP regarding routing and subnetting


  • Familiarity with traditional and modern training methods (mentoring, coaching, on-the-job or in classroom training, e-learning, workshops, simulations , etc . )


  • Proven work experience as a Training Manager


  • Maintain 8570 compliance (Active Security and OS certifications)


  • B e a team player that can work under pressure with good written and oral communication skills


  • A strong sense of urgency including self-governance on task priority.


  • Must have an active DoD SSBI/Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain and hold a DoD SSBI/Secret Clearance

  • Palo Alto Firewall s (PA-850, PA- 3060, PA-3250, PA-5050, PA-5250, and PA-5260)


Other requirements:

  • A strong sense of urgency including self-governance on task priorit ies


  • Must meet the requirements to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance, as well as all required security certifications and trainings


  • Must have or be willing and capable of obtaining within 60 days a qualifying security certification, which could be CCNA-Security, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE or SSCP


  • Minimum t ravel as required
