About The Role
Description:
The Cloud Architect position, a crucial role in supporting the federal government, is required to set up the cloud infrastructures. The candidate will manage the architecture of an organization's cloud environment to ensure the scalability, agility, optimization, security, integration, compliance and interoperability of cloud deployed capabilities. They bring expertise in design and deploying cloud based solutions efficiently and effectively. The position would be responsible for analyzing the requirement of the government's applications and capabilities being built to provide an underlying function within the cloud to properly host and support. The cloud architect would work with other cloud engineers and cloud security personnel to properly define the cloud infrastructure, networking and deployment of systems.
Responsibilities:
• Create security-driven Azure enterprise architectures, enterprise systems, and service-oriented architectures.
• Establish and execute detailed cloud migration project plans.
• Drive cloud consulting engagements by providing technical and business insights to cloud strategy engagements, technology and architecture, deployments, cloud migrations, and portfolio management.
• Lead the design and implementation of PaaS/IaaS services, constructs, and deployment methods using containerization, database-as-a-service, storage, and infrastructure automation.
• Provide expertise in architecture and design of services and systems in support of the various customer applications through the organization and its security.
• Participate in technical project review meetings to ensure technical designs meet the client's operational requirements and infrastructure/security standards.
• Educate and influence stakeholders and engineering teams on effective cloud solutions and best practices.
Qualifications
• Education/Experience Requirements: Minimum of 12 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 10 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 7 years with Ph.D. A degree should be in one of the following fields: Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or Data Science. However, an additional 4 years of relevant experience or specialized training may be considered in lieu of Bachelor's degree.
• Clearance Requirement: Active Secret (TS/SCI preferred).
• Active Certification Requirement: CCSP, CASP+, CISSP, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Administrator Associate, AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Professional/Associate), or Computing Environment Certificate relevant to assigned duties (equivalent to IAM Level III or IASAE Level II).
• Proficiency in cloud architecture design including networking, scalability, and security of cloud based solutions.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
• Knowledge of cloud native technologies and tools such as containerization, Kubernetes, and serverless computing.
• Understanding of cloud security best practices including encryption, micro segmentation, and least privilege.
• Familiarity with cloud management and Infrastructure/Configuration as code tools like Terrafom and Ansible.
• Experience with DevSecOps methodologies and continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) practices.
• Awareness of Microservice and Service Oriented Architecture patterns.
• Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban).
• Experience with cloud observability toolsets.
• Understanding of version control systems (Git) and their integration into CI tool s(Gitlab CI).
• Basic understanding of Linux administration and programming (Jave, Python, C#).
• Experience with identity and access management (IAM) solutions (Azure Entra IS, AWS IAM, Keyclock).

Details
Target Salary Range: $146,000 - $234,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
