REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
- BS/BA in Engineering (Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering) or applicable technical specialty in related discipline from an ABET school
- 0 to 6 years of aviation related experience
- 0 to 6 yrs experience in aircraft/aircraft systems (e.g. flt control, displays, radar, comm/nav) test.
- Familiar with and able to present data and recommendations
- Must demonstrate the capability to publish reports and technical papers on the results of developmental and/or experimental flight testing of advanced rotary wing and fixed wing aircraft
- Must have demonstrated the capability to compile, reduce, format, analyze and present test data
- Must have demonstrated the ability to apply the practical knowledge of aerospace engineering to flight testing principles and concepts applicable to the developmental and system testing of rotary wing and fixed wing aircraft, performance, stability and control, vehicle dynamics and handling qualities
- Must have demonstrated knowledge in the theory and applicability of aerodynamics and propulsion as they relate to the performance of rotary wing and fixed wing aircraft
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
- Demonstrated ability to assign work and manage personnel and tasks
- Aircraft survivability system and test methodology knowledge/experience
- Basic competency with MS Office, Matlab, and technical writing
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Incumbent will be focused on aircraft survivability equipment testing
- Will serve as a flight test engineer at the Aviation Flight Test Directorate, U.S. Army Redstone Test Center
- Project Management activities, including overall assignment of work, management of personnel, quality control, customer satisfaction, and performance tracking and reporting
- Serves as a team member in conducting cost estimating, test planning and execution, data acquisition, data analysis and reporting on assigned flight-testing projects
- Works with other engineers and project officers in the testing of advanced rotary wing and fixed wing aircraft, to include the disciplines of aircraft performance, stability and control, propulsion, cockpit displays, and aircraft systems
- Coordinate the application of scientific theory and engineering principles to the test and evaluation mission of the United States Army Aviation Technical Test Center.
- Apply standard technical skills to resolve problems that result from the test and evaluation of advanced rotary wing and fixed wing aircraft such as stability and control, propulsion, cockpit displays, and aircraft systems
- Assist other engineers in the design and execution of tests, analysis of data, and reporting of results, including the interpretation of the significance of the findings
