Northrop Grumman's Defense Systems sector is looking for a Director 1, Test Engineering in our SDS Division. This leadership role is located in Roy, UT, Huntsville, AL or Colorado Springs, CO. Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force's Sentinel, sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure.
The Test Engineering Functional Homeroom is responsible for development, career growth, and leadership of a multi-disciplined test engineering team as well as test process and governance, training content development, KPI metrics, and organizational infrastructure of the Test Directorate. This team is also responsible for enabling execution of test planning, test execution, and test reporting to include lab, ground, and flight testing; lab design and operations; test data and instrumentation, system integration, and verification testing in support of Integrated Functional Capability to support successful program execution. Testing occurs at Northrop Grumman, various supplier, and US Government facilities throughout the US.

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Primary Level Salary Range: $176,100.00 - $292,000.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

What You Will Get To Do:
Lead a high-performing test engineering team in test planning, integration, and execution across the SDS Division portfolio of programs while reporting directly to the SDS Vice President of Engineering.
- Develop and foster Test Engineering vision aligned to overall division engineering vision of world-class engineering.
- Develop and drive progress of Test Engineering goals and milestones.
- Drive technical rigor, ownership, and accountability in Test Engineering products and execution.
- Lead a large team of cross discipline directors, managers, and professionals at various locations responsible for Test Engineering support of a portfolio of mission critical programs across all phases of EMD test (lab, ground, and flight) including instrumentation and test data collection.
- Responsible for establishing and directing the implementation of test engineering process and governance driving consistency across program/product teams at all locations and multiple subcontractor locations.
- Responsible for establishing and implementing test tools and automation to drive standardization and efficiency across the directorate.
- Responsible for developing training to ensure test teams are trained and capable of test execution.
- Participate in establishing and directing the implementation of model-based digital engineering processes used in the design and development of Test Engineering execution and test lab design at all levels of decomposition.
- Ensure test engineering first time quality of products, manage auditing, and oversight functions including metrics development and management.
- Interface closely with the product/program team leadership and implement test engineering priorities

You'll Bring These Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in STEM and 10 year's experience supporting U.S. Government contracts and customers and/or project management in other industries
- Must have 5 years experience leading functional or program test teams
- Must have 5 years in a formal engineering management / technical leadership experience
- Active Secret clearance adjudicated within the last 5 years with ability to obtain SAP access
- Ability to travel 25% of the time
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
- 10 years experience in EMD test across lab, ground, and flight test and leading test campaigns.
- Prior experience interfacing with prime contractor site leads and DoD leadership personnel
- Demonstrated success leading teams/and or organizations to achieve a common goal
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to effectively work within a team environment
- Active DoD TS/SCI clearance and applicable SAP accesses
