The Payload Launch Sites Support Services (PLSSS) Program provides all launch processing support functions for Office of Space Launch (OSL). One of the program's two primary operating locations is in Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Florida. Key elements of the PLSSS program scope include satellite launch processing, satellite transport operations, satellite propellant loading operations, and satellite processing facilities O&M, clean room operations, and safety and environmental services.
We are seeking a Early Career/Entry Level Mechanical Engineer with a focus in Plumbing & Fire Suppression to apply their knowledge in a broad array of assignments supporting Facility Operations and Maintenance. Candidates should have knowledge of all conventional aspects of Fire Suppression analysis and design to include applicable consensus codes.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring compliance with NFPA, DoD, and customer specifications.
- Review and approve fire-protection drawings, specifications, and test plans.
- Coordinate with facility managers, system engineers, and external stakeholders.
- Develop/maintain engineering standards, procedures, and best-practice documentation.
- Support cost estimating, budgeting, and schedule tracking for fire-protection & plumbing projects.
- Inspecting construction progress and performing facility condition assessments
- Ordering materials and inspecting repair work
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Fire Protection/Science Engineering, Facility Engineering or a related engineering discipline complete
- Knowledge of fire suppression and/or designing plumbing systems
- Must be a US Citizen; this position will require a government security clearance. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.
Desired Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both technical and non-technical in nature.
- Ability to produce clear engineering documentation and present technical findings
- Knowledge of Fire Protection
- Familiarity with core NFPA standards and/or DoD Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC)
- National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) Level I or higher
- NFPA Certified Fire Protection Engineer (CFPE); PMP or equivalent project-management certification
- Hands on involvement with MIL-STD, or other defense-sector certification processes
- Experience performing fire suppression analysis and designs
- Knowledge of the Department of Defense Universal Facility Code (UFC)
- Experience with Facility Condition Assessments
- Experience using MAXIMO or other BIS to generate work orders and procurement requests
- Construction and renovation project cost estimating
- Knowledge and experience with SCIF and cleanroom design
