Description
Amazon Leo is an initiative to launch thousands of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved customers around the world, including USA and international governments. This position will lead the development of custom SATCOM terminals, standard terminals, and accessories to support government customers using Amazon Leo for space, air, land, and sea applications.

Key job responsibilities
As a Sr. Technical Program Manager, you will be responsible for managing the program team, establishing program cost, technical and schedule baselines, and tracking progress towards that baseline. You will identify project critical schedule paths, establish and implement plans to avoid and recover from challenges, and ensure your programs meet customer cost, technical and schedule goals.
You will work with Amazon Leo for Government (ALG) product, engineering, contracts, finance, supply chain, and business development employees to support your programs. You will work closely with the Amazon Leo Commercial (ALC) to organize resources, schedule milestones, and track achievements.
You will work in a collaborative, analytical, fast-paced environment and must be comfortable interacting with highly technical cross-functional teams. The candidate must have strong business judgment, dive deep into data, have strong writing skills, and be comfortable leading executive-level reviews.
The best candidates will have deep understanding of satellite communications systems and components, systems engineering, electrical design/integration of modem/antenna systems, and program management. Candidates with experience executing programs to integrate SATCOM terminals; on stationary and mobile air/land/sea endpoints will be preferred.
Security Clearance: This position requires that the candidate selected be a U.S. citizen and must currently possess and maintain an active (within the past 2 years) TS/SCI security clearance.
A day in the life
In this role you will:
- Propose and drive adoption of improvements to Amazon Leo for government users
- Lead and document trade studies for intra-team review for stakeholder buy-in
- Deliver programs that develop and deliver new SATCOM terminal and accessory implementations; perform and document demonstrations; obtain relevant government certifications and ensure compatibility with industry, government, and Amazon Leo standards; maintain and support deployed solutions; and collect and analyze customer feedback.
- Create program schedule, cost and technical baselines, define and track key program metrics, and manage execution of the program to meet those goals. Manage suppliers, subcontractors and support staff on your programs. Proactively manage the programs and devise plans to resolve breakdowns, remove roadblocks, avoid triggering threats, fulfill obligations and exploit opportunities. Organize regular project and team meetings, focusing design teams and support staff to meeting program baselines. Set agenda, communicate meeting notes and actions, follow up with responsible owners. Provide monthly program status updates to management, stakeholders, and customers. Fulfill program hardware, software, firmware, and documentation deliverables.
- Communicate clear and effective narratives to executive management on the plans, status, and critical issues. Escalate urgent issues appropriately and drive them to closure in a timely manner.
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of technical product or program management experience
- 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent
- 5+ years experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
- Experience in project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management
- Experience managing technical programs across cross-functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
