Position Description:

The Junior Maintenance Functional SME & Information Specialist serves as the critical translator between raw program data outputs and the Marine Corps maintenance community. This program is not just about maintaining the program system - it's about putting the data into terms that maintainers can use to act on. This individual ensures that what is being presented in dashboards and visualizations is actually what Marine maintainers expect to see and can act upon in the motor pool.
Working alongside the Data Visualization Developer and under the mentorship of the Sr Maintenance Functional SME, this role combines hands-on maintenance knowledge with information management skills to ensure the program data products speak the language of the Marines who use them. This is the DevOps equivalent of having an operator working with the developer - the person who ensures the end product serves the warfighter.

This position is located in Quantico, VA.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

Validate that dashboard visualizations, alerts, and data presentations accurately reflect what Marine maintainers need to see and can act upon at the unit level
Translate technical data science outputs into maintenance terminology that resonates with Marines at the E3-E7 level operating in motor pools
Support development and refinement of data queries by providing the maintenance context for what data elements are operationally meaningful
Assist in developing fault code interpretation materials, quick reference guides, and job aids that link program analytics to specific maintenance actions
Conduct user acceptance testing of dashboards and visualizations from the maintainer perspective, providing feedback to the development team
Support the Sr Maintenance SME in defining alert thresholds, escalation criteria, and predictive maintenance decision points
Develop and maintain information products including training materials, user guides, and program reference documentation tailored to Marine Corps maintenance audiences
Interface with unit-level Marine maintainers during FSR site visits to gather feedback on data product usability and relevance
Support the I&KPT training program by providing hands-on instruction on dashboard utilization and fault code interpretation from the maintainer's perspective
Maintain awareness of platform-specific maintenance concerns across MTVR, JLTV, LVSR, MCT, TRAM, and Excavator to ensure program outputs address the right subsystems
Manage the program information products lifecycle including version control, distribution, and currency of training and reference materials

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

5+ years of military ground vehicle maintenance experience at the organizational or intermediate level
Former USMC or Army maintainer with hands-on experience on target platforms or similar vehicle systems
Ability to interpret vehicle diagnostic data, fault codes, and maintenance technical manuals
Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to translate technical data into operationally understandable formats
Experience with military maintenance information systems (GCSS-MC, EMSS, or equivalent)
Active Secret clearance
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint for information product development
Preferred Qualifications
Former USMC Motor Transport (MOS 3521/3531) or Combat Vehicle Mechanic at the E5-E7 level
Former Army 91B/91H Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic or 91X Maintainer with information management duties
Experience developing or delivering maintenance training programs or materials
Familiarity with CAN bus / J1939 data and OBD diagnostic tools
Technical writing or information management experience in a military or DoD contractor environment
Experience working directly with data visualization tools (Qlik, Power BI, Tableau) from a user/validator perspective
