As a Satellite Ground Systems Operator/Maintainer III in support of the Enhanced Polar System Operations and Maintenance II (EPS OMII) program, you will provide real-time operational management for SATCOM networks, ensuring space-enabled, secure communications for polar users in support of national objectives. Based at Clear Space Force Station (SFS), AK, this in-person role requires an active Top Secret (TS) Clearance with SCI eligibility. This role will act as the workforce Maintenance Manager and directly assist the Director of Operations (DO) in carrying out maintenance objectives to include DO duties in the absence of the DO. You will design, integrate, maintain, and test electronic circuits, ensuring seamless signal and data flow for critical satellite and terrestrial nodes. You will oversee troubleshooting, fault isolation for the Line Replaceable Unit (LRU), and coordination with external depots for system support and component replacements.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Guide and support operational maintenance, troubleshooting, and planning activities, applying expert problem-solving and planning skills.
  • Perform hardware and software maintenance following established procedures and policies, and address issues autonomously on non-operationally accepted systems.
  • Engage with supporting depots for replacements, refreshes, and resolutions on affected systems, ensuring optimal performance.
  • Track maintenance actions, oversee accountability of Government Furnished Property (GFP), and report any deficiencies with mission equipment.
  • Procedure Development & Improvement: Develop and refine operational procedures, ensuring continuous improvement and compliance, and provide recommendations for training documentation updates.
  • Support engineering assessments and integration for new program requirements, coordinating closely with system engineering teams.
  • Implement corrosion control procedures as per the Government-approved Corrosion Control Plan.
  • Develop/implement procedures, data analysis, and other activities on both operational and non-operationally accepted equipment.
  • Coordinate and track maintenance actions, ensuring standards of compliance with government regulations.
  • Provide system administration leadership during routine and critical surge periods, maintaining readiness for mission owner requirements.
  • Assist with documentation for contract deliverables and maintain oversight of Training functional area resources (FAM).


EDUCATION/TRAINING
  • Required: IAT Level II Certification upon hire
    • CompTIA Security+ (preferred) or equivalent
  • Minimum: High School Diploma
  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree
  • Proven background in management with strong leadership capabilities


EXPERIENCE
  • 6 years of experience in SATCOM operations/maintenance
  • Ability to perform tasks independently, handle complex issues, train junior technicians, and lead teams effectively
  • Operations Center Expertise: Familiar with operations center workflows
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing in mission-focused operational environment.


SKILLS/ABILITIES
  • Real-time ground systems experience: Proficiency in ground systems operations for GEO/HEO and LEO spacecraft. Familiarity with Polar Space Orbits preferred.
  • Military experience as a Cryptologic Technician or Electronics Technician, Digital Wideband Systems Maintainer, Command and Control Systems Operator, or Satellite Communications System Operator/ Maintainer.
  • Experience in scheduling, documenting, and training of SATCOM maintenance procedures.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Must be able to stand, sit for prolonged periods.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, climb, reach, stretch, kneel, squat.
  • Must be able to perform repetitive tasks or motions for prolonged periods
  • Must be able to carry up to 50 pounds at a time and push and/or pull 50-pound loads at a time.
  • Must have sufficient physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina to complete various tasks.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces, ascend or descend ladders, and/or traverse scaffolding.
  • Must be able to work in personal protective equipment including but not limited to safety glasses, fall-protection harness, protective footwear, hard hat, gloves, and hearing protection.


WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • This is an Onsite position that requires work to be performed onsite at an Aleut location.
  • Working indoors in an office environment.
  • Working both indoors and outdoors, exposed to all weather conditions and potentially austere environments.
  • Potentially exposed to electrical or mechanical hazards, elevated work areas, and confined spaces.
  • Potential exposure to electromagnetic frequency radiation (EMFR).


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must possess a valid and unrestricted driver's license.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment background screening.
  • Must be able to pass random drug screenings.
  • Must possess and be able to maintain a Top Secret with SCI eligibility clearance.
  • Must be able to be cleared for base or site access.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be available for a flexible work schedule to include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must hold a current IAT Level II CompTIA Security + certification (or equivalent)
