We are seeking a highly skilled and creative Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform developer to join our team supporting the Missile Defense Agency. This role focuses on front-end development, creating intuitive and effective applications that enable decision-making through engaging data visualizations and user-focused design. The ideal candidate will excel in developing scalable, responsive, and user-centered interfaces within Palantir Foundry. A strong background in data visualization tools, SaaS platforms, and the use of scripting languages to create application functionality is essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities
• Collaborate extensively with cross-functional teams to identify and frame customer challenges with particular attention given to desired application functionality, transparency, risk management, and calibrated trust.
• Build responsive, scalable, and intuitive interfaces within Palantir Foundry to support decision-making and effectively visualize complex data solutions.
• Partner with Data Scientist AI/ML Developers via MLOps and Agile processes to integrate data-rich solutions into the front end.
• Optimize communication between front-end applications and back-end data and analytics pipelines and SaaS platforms.
• Implement advanced data visualization solutions using onboard tooling within Palantir Foundry.
• Create visualizations using JavaScript libraries (e.g., D3.js, Chart.js, Highcharts, Plotly).
• Create custom widgets and functions within Palantir Foundry to achieve required application functionality using Python, Typescript2, and VisualBasic scripts.
• Translate complex datasets into actionable insights through clear, engaging, and user-friendly dashboards and visual presentations.
• Apply UCD principles to ensure interfaces align with user requirements, enhancing accessibility, usability, and overall user experience.
• Conduct user testing and iterate on designs based on feedback.
• Create and maintain technical documentation for front-end tools, workflows, and applications.
• Provide ongoing support and improvements to deployed applications.
Qualifications
• US citizenship and a active Secret level security clearance is required.
• Bachelor's degree in software engineering, Data Science, Analytics, Web Development, or a related field.
• 0-3 years of professional experience building front-end applications, SaaS platforms, or similar solutions.
• Strong experience with front-end frameworks (React, Angular, Vue.js) and JavaScript libraries. Strong experience with Python, Typescript2, and Visual Basic within SaaS workflows.
• Experience with JavaScript visualization libraries (e.g., D3.js, Chart.js, Highcharts, Plotly).
• Competent in consuming diverse data types via APIs or databases and integrating front-end applications with backend services or SaaS solutions.
• Demonstrable experience designing user-friendly interfaces that maximize accessibility and usability.
• Effective at working with cross-functional teams and communicating technical ideas to non-technical stakeholders.
Desired Qualifications
• Experience working with structured and unstructured data, time-series datasets, associated query languages (e.g., SQL), APIs, and integration with platforms such as Office 365 to support front-end applications and seamless collaboration with backend AI/ML solutions.
• Familiarity with DoD data systems, data types, and the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) mission, including warfighting concepts such as command and control, situational awareness, machine autonomy, munitions guidance, targeting, image recognition, and electronic warfare.
• Understanding of long-range planning, budgeting, acquisition, project management, policy, task management, and compliance workflows.
• Experience with SaaS analytics platforms such as Palantir Foundry, PowerBI, QlikSense, Tableau, or Alteryx.
• Expertise in HTML/CSS, responsive design, and modern front-end development tools (e.g., Webpack, Babel).
• Industry certifications in front-end development, UX/UI design, or web development (e.g., Certified Web Developer, Adobe Certified Expert, UX Design certifications). Contributions to open-source projects focused on front-end development or user-centered design. Publications or presentations in web development, UX/UI conferences, or related professional forums.
• Portfolio highlighting visually stunning and functional applications developed in a professional or academic setting.
• Familiarity with digital engineering concepts and tools.
