The Strategic Division (SD) supports high-reliability organizations including Navy Strategic Systems Programs (SSP), Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center, and the Department of Energy (DOE), among others. Our support across our client base is expanding rapidly and encompasses important services, such as data analytics and visualization, threat analysis, risk management, modeling and simulation, cost estimating, earned value management, program management, system engineering, independent evaluation, and High Consequence Event prevention.
The Surety Programs Group (SPG) supports government and private sector management of complex safety, security, and reliability programs for high consequence operations. SPG delivers industry-leading, innovative, and value-added services such as data analytics and visualization, threat analysis, risk management, modeling and simulation, program management, system engineering, independent evaluation, and High Consequence Event prevention to help our clients understand and mitigate mission risks spanning physical, cyber, and human domains. - Collaborate with team members to understand the requirements for new features.
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code to implement new functionality.
- Participate in debugging and testing to ensure new features are functional and meet specifications.
- Review existing HTML Help Files to identify outdated content, formatting, or designs.
- Update HTML/CSS structure to align the help files with modern web standards.
Collaboration and Communication Responsibilities:
- Attend planning and status update meetings to align efforts with team goals.
- Communicate progress, challenges, or blockers related to assigned tasks.
- Take advantage of guidance provided by senior developers and technical leads.
- Implement feedback to improve code quality and feature functionality.
- Collaborate with the product team to understand feature requirements and priorities.
- Work alongside the QA team to test new features and ensure bug-free releases.
Auxiliary Responsibilities:
- Participate in peer code reviews to ensure consistency and quality.
- Learn from others' feedback during reviews to improve personal coding practices.
- Use version control systems (e.g., Git) to commit and push changes to the project's repository.
- Manage branches effectively during development and collaborate on merges.
Objective-Based Goals:
- Successfully complete assigned tasks within deadlines while maintaining quality.
- Gain hands-on experience in real-world software development processes.
- Actively contribute to GCAM sustainment efforts
Qualifications
- Enrolled in a degree seeking program at the beginning of the internship in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field and continued enrollment for at least one semester following internship with SPA.
- Foundational knowledge in C#, C++, or Java, including hands-on experience with object-oriented programming (OOP) principles.
- Competency in HTML, including semantic markup and responsive design principles.
- Basic knowledge of CSS and JavaScript to enhance web-based documentation (e.g., modern HTML Help Files).
- Hands-on experience with Git for version control, including branching, merging, pull requests, and collaboration workflows.
- Working knowledge of Git repositories (e.g., GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket) and managing source code collaboratively.
- Familiarity with Agile or similar workflows, including ticketing systems (e.g., JIRA) and sprint-based development cycles.
- Ability to follow coding standards and write efficient, maintainable, and well-documented code.
- Ability to manage tasks independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong ability to work in a team environment with developers, designers, and product/QA teams.
- Good written and verbal communication skills for creating documentation and engaging in meetings.
