Northrop Grumman Space Systems Sector is seeking a Sr. Principal Level Systems Architect Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This role operates at the intersection of systems thinking, business process architecture, and operational transformation, ensuring enterprise processes are defined, optimized, and aligned to strategic objectives.
This position will be based in Redondo Beach, CA or McLean, VA. Telecommuting will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
The selected candidate will analyze, model, and improve business processes to enable performance excellence, standardization, and scalable execution across programs and functions. This role partners with process owners, subject matter experts (SMEs), and functional leaders to translate operational knowledge into structured process models and actionable improvements.
This is a highly collaborative role requiring strong facilitation skills, analytical rigor, Business Process Modeling & Transformation, and the ability to connect operational execution with enterprise-level process architecture. Using process mapping software Nimbus to develop and maintain process and data models.

Primary Level Salary Range: $142,200.00 - $213,400.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

Responsibilities:
- Map and develop process diagrams using Nimbus while facilitating working sessions with process owners and/or subject matter experts.
- Perform business process analysis to identify gaps, redundancies, risks, and improvement opportunities.
- Lead structured technical and operational meetings
- Analyze existing documentation and decompose content into aligned process models and document hierarchies.
- Apply hierarchical and sequential modeling techniques to ensure clarity, traceability, and scalability of processes
- Facilitate engagements with Process Owners and SMEs to validate workflows, decision points, and accountability.
- Support organizational performance excellence through disciplined application of process improvement methodologies.
- Ensure modeled processes align with governance, compliance, and program execution needs.
- Drive transition from legacy site-based practices to a harmonized process management system.
- Perform Data Analysis activities as needed
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors in Science (STEM) and 8 years of aerospace, defense, or other product development industry experience or 6 Years with Masters (STEM) in aerospace, defense, or other product development industry experience.
- Must have exceptional attention to detail.
- Must have advanced Excel skills.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to write complete, concise, and accurate content.
- Must have highly effective time management skills, including the ability to set and manage multiple deadlines, anticipate issues, and escalate potential problems as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance, and SCI approval/access.
- Experience in Industrial Engineering or Systems Engineering
- Project Management Professional (PMP) and/or Professional in Business Analysis (PMI-PBA) Certification
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certification
- Experience using process modeling tools (UPN modeling language) to identify, capture, define, and analyze business processes.
- Understanding of hierarchical and sequential process modeling concepts/techniques
- Experience facilitating and participating in process improvement efforts
- Experience working within cross functional teams
- Broad, enterprise-wide view and understanding of strategy, processes and capabilities, enabling technologies, and governance
- Strong business acumen and proven track record of providing innovative solutions
