A mission-focused federal technology organization is seeking a UI/UX Frontend Software Engineer to support classified, mission-critical programs within the Department of Defense and Intelligence Community. This role requires an active TS/SCI clearance and prior experience operating in secure or classified environments.
The ideal candidate combines deep frontend engineering expertise with strong user experience design capabilities to build intuitive, high-performing interfaces for complex analytical and operational systems. This position plays a key role in modernizing legacy applications, improving usability for mission operators, and delivering scalable, secure web solutions in Agile environments.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, test, and maintain responsive, secure web applications using Vue.js
• Translate mission and technical requirements into intuitive, user-centered interface designs
• Create wireframes, mockups, user flows, interactive prototypes, and production-ready visual designs
• Partner with backend engineers, systems architects, and mission stakeholders to deliver integrated solutions
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives
• Conduct user research, usability testing, and iterative design improvements based on operator feedback
• Establish and maintain UI/UX standards, reusable component libraries, and design consistency across applications
• Optimize application performance, accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility
• Support deployment activities within secure, containerized, or cloud-based environments
• Present design concepts and technical solutions to both technical teams and mission leadership
Required Qualifications
• Active Top Secret / SCI clearance at time of hire
• 7 or more years of professional experience in front end development and UI/UX design
• Strong hands-on experience with Vue.js
• Demonstrated experience translating design concepts into production-quality code
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related technical discipline
Preferred Qualifications
• Prior experience supporting Department of Defense or Intelligence Community programs
• Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, and responsive design principles
• Experience with TypeScript, JavaScript frameworks, jQuery, or Python
• Familiarity with SQL and data-driven applications
• Experience working in Docker or other containerized environments
• Experience with version control and collaboration tools such as GitHub or GitLab
• Familiarity with Jira and Confluence
• Strong communication skills and comfort presenting to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
