Duties
Help
  • You will investigate, analyze and resolve problems pertaining to the installation, maintenance, operation, alignment or the repair of the assigned systems.
  • You will complete analyses, draw conclusions, write evaluation reports and take action to improve existing functions.
  • You will perform pre/post operational checks and maintenance of test systems.
  • You will participate in preparing and delivering technical presentations for the project sponsor.

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a certification in special processes such as dye penetrant testing and solderification.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a certification in accordance with OPNAV Instruction 8023.24 Navy Personnel Ammunition and Explosives Handling Qualification and Certification Program.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment medical examination.
Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
  • Assisting with modifications, troubleshooting, alignment and maintenance of test systems, subsystems, support equipment and software.
  • Utilizing knowledge of technical engineering concepts, principles and practices to provide technical guidance and technical assistance.
  • Reviewing technical data to assist with preparing technical reports for systems with complex technical interfaces.

Education

Applicants may substitute the following level of education for the specialized experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position and is directly related to the work of the position: (Transcripts must be provided)

Two full years (36 semester hours or 54 quarter hours) of graduate education or a master's degree meets the requirements. A degree or equivalent graduate degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or electronics technology.

Equivalent combination of graduate level education and experience may be used to meet qualification requirements.

All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.

Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the qualification requirements if the applicant can provide documentation indicating that the foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States.

You will work in an explosive area, with and around missiles containing explosive devices. You will be exposed to noise, dirt, dust, oil and solvents. You will be required to wear safety devises such as goggles, safety glasses, hearing attenuators and safety shoes.

This position regularly and routinely handles and physically performs tasks with conventional ammunition, ammunition components, explosives and related hazards material and as such requires certification in accordance with OPNAV INSTRUCTION 8023.24 (series) NAVY PERSONNEL AMMUNITION AND EXPLOSIVES HANDLING QUALIFICATION AND CERTIFICATION PROGRAM.

A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements, including failure to report to any of the scheduled appointments.
