As a IT SPECIALIST (PLCYPLN/POLICY AND PLANNING) at the GG-2210-15 some of your typical work assignments may include:
  • Develops and coordinates recommendations, plans, policy, and doctrine to support the CJCS and Combatant Command (CCMD) requirements for the cyber survivability of weapon systems.
  • Provides DoD Cybersecurity, cyber operational resilience, and Cybersecurity Risk Management Construct (CRMC), the former Risk Management Framework (RMF) subject matter expertise to prioritize the mitigation of cyber vulnerabilities in weapon systems, critical infrastructure, and networks with the greatest CCMD mission risk.
  • Serves as a Senior IT Specialist in the areas of Cybersecurity and Cyber Survivability (Cybersecurity and Cyber Operational Resilience) and its linkages to the Cybersecurity Risk Management Construct (CRMC).
  • Develops and coordinates recommendations, plans, policy, and doctrine to support the CJCS and CCMD requirements for a fully integrated portfolio of enterprise cybersecurity and cyber operational resilience capabilities.
  • Coordinates and prepares documentation for the analysis of cybersecurity and cyber operational resilience capability requirements to support development and/or maintenance of the DoD Cybersecurity Portfolio, Capabilities Based Assessment (CBA), CCMD Integrated Priority List (IPL), Strategy implementation, and other cybersecurity and cyber operational resilience issues in support of CJCS and
    Secretary of War.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GG-15, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GG-14 grade level in the Federal service:
  • Recognizing IT theories, principles, concepts, standards, and practices sufficient to ensuring cyber survivability (cybersecurity and cyber operational resilience) through planning, analyzing, developing, implementing, maintaining, and enhancing cyber survivability (cybersecurity and cyber operational resilience) programs, policies, and procedures;
  • Applying the cyber risk management framework and process to include methods of assessing and mitigating risk;
  • Conducting complex analysis including threats from cyber actors against identified vulnerabilities, identifying and proposing solutions to management problems which are often characterized by their critical nature, and previous reviews and routine management techniques are unavailable or not directly applicable;
  • Identifying program recommendations, budget proposals, military strategies, and overall national security objectives, policies, and planning.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

In addition to meeting qualifications, your application package must reflect the applicable experience to meet the Individual Occupational Requirements for the 2210 series.

Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate. For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

  • Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
