We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer - Advanced Resistive Exercise Device (ARED).
This position is located in Houston, Texas.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
- Sustain the ARED aboard the International Space Station (ISS) through hardware development, manufacturing, and assembly, in addition to troubleshooting anomalies and resupplying hardware.
- Process ISS crew workout and hardware response data, analyzing and documenting results for presentation to customers.
- Participate in testing activities when required.
- Work in a team environment, and report to project lead or project manager for technical support, task assignment, and processes.
- Support hardware troubleshooting to investigate mechanical and electrical failures within flight hardware or test support hardware.
- Generate essential paperwork and documents for tasks assigned, such as Task Performance Sheets (TPS), Discrepancy Reports (DR), and Detailed Test Procedures (DTP), as needed.
- Perform job functions based on pre-established guidelines or instructions.
- Perform other duties as required.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering with experience in the field or in a related area.
- Experience with Flight Hardware (Class I) documentation (TPSs, DRs, Processes and Procedures).
- Experience with procedure development.
- Self-motivated, team player and adaptability to a dynamic environment and the ability to take ownership and complete all assignments as required.
- Prior experience with hardware anomaly troubleshooting and failure analysis.
- Familiar with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and will be expected to effectively interact with customers and management at all levels.
- Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings.
- Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness with close attention to detail.
- Able to adapt for changing conditions and provide alternative solutions to challenges in a timely manner.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office products.
Desired qualifications/non-essential skills required:
- Experience with ISS Countermeasures Systems and in-flight hardware processing for spaceflight.
- Familiarity with the Engineering Life Cycle process.
- Experience with procurement of Flight Hardware.
- Experience with Testing at JSC Facilities.
- Experience with Astronaut interface/communication.
- Co-op or Intern experience at JSC or other NASA agency.

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $70,800.00 - $156,700.00.
