Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior VMWare Consultant to support the U.S. Air Force at Joint Base San Antonio, TX. This engagement will focus on enterprise VMWare modernization initiatives, including upgrades from vSphere 8 to VMWare Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9 and migrations from VCF 5.1.1 to new VCF architectures. The consultant will serve as a senior technical resource within a secure DoD environment, providing hands-on expertise in VMware core infrastructure, lifecycle management, and VCF upgrade execution. This role requires deep experience operating in mission-critical environments with strict security compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead upgrades from vSphere 8 to VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9
- Execute migrations from VCF 5.1.1 to current VCF versions.
- Perform architecture assessments and validate upgrade readiness.
- Support vCenter, ESXi and vSAN lifecycle management activities.
- Execute upgrade sequencing through SDDC Manager where applicable.
- Troubleshoot complex virtualization and cluster-level issues
- Coordinate maintenance windows and change management activities
- Ensure compliance with DoD security standards and STIG requirements.
- Develop documentation including upgrade plans, implementation steps and operations runbooks.
- Provide technical guidance and knowledge transfer to government personnel
Required Qualifications:
- Active Secret Clearance
- Security+ (Sec+) certification (DoD 8570 compliant)
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
- 7+ years of hands-on VMware infrastructure experience
- Deep technical expertise in:
- vSphere 7/8
- vCenter Server administration
- vSAN architecture and operations
- VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF)
- Demonstrated experience performing enterprise-scale VMware upgrades and migrations
- Experience working with DoD or other federal secure environments
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to operate onsite in a secured military environment
