The Systems Engineer is responsible for supporting the design, integration, verification, and lifecycle management of MIDS JTRS and other airborne Advanced Tactical Data Link (ATDL) systems to ensure technical performance, interoperability, and compliance with system requirements. They will play a supporting role in achieving the organization's goals by assisting with requirements analysis, system architecture development, integration and test activities, documentation management, and cross-functional coordination across engineering, test, and program management teams. This position will directly impact system readiness and mission capability through the delivery of validated, traceable, and fully integrated tactical communication solutions that meet customer and operational requirements.
CORE FUNCTIONS / JOB DUITES
Able to perform the following with supervision:
Support the design, integration, and testing of RF systems and subsystems-including transmitters, receivers, antennas, amplifiers, and distribution networks-ensuring compliance with performance and interface requirements. Perform RF analysis and troubleshooting activities such as link budgets, frequency planning, path loss verification, and interference mitigation while collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure seamless system integration.
Execute laboratory and field RF testing to validate performance, EMI/EMC compliance, and regulatory requirements, utilizing standard RF test equipment and documented procedures. Analyze test data, identify and resolve performance anomalies, and maintain accurate technical documentation including test plans, reports, configuration records, and interface control artifacts.
Assist in designing, developing, and testing computer systems, including hardware, software, and networking components.
Integrate multiple systems, hardware, and software components to ensure seamless functionality.
Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve system issues (bugs), as needed.
Work closely with cross- functional teams, including software development, test/QA, technical support, technical writing, system architects, configuration management, and all levels of program management.
Maintain accurate and up to date documentation of system designs, System Requirement Document (SRD), System Requirement Specification (SRS), software user manuals, configurations, requirement traceability matrices, risk assessments, System Engineering Management Plan, Interface control documents, version description documents, fault tree assessments.
Participate in the systems engineering life-cycle by supporting and assisting with key activities across all phases, including requirements analysis, system design and architecture, implementation and integration, testing and verification, documentation, troubleshooting and maintenance, and collaboration.
Research and systems engineering methodologies, tools, and best practices; stay updated on industry trends and support in the training of junior members of the team.
