Duties

  • You will provide guidance and assistance to civilian and military personnel on regulations and procedures pertaining to travel and transportation matters both domestic and foreign.
  • You will examine documents for accuracy, adequacy of documentation, compliance with regulations for goods and services provided to or by the Government.
  • You will assist the traveler in filling out all claims for reimbursement by reviewing each claim for appropriateness in accordance with existing regulations.
  • You will execute the passport application and ensure that the application form and supporting documents are correctly submitted
  • You will review the credit card statement and ensure the financial transactions are cleared in order to pass a financial audit.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This is a Financial Management Level I certified position per the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012, Section 1599d. You must achieve this level within prescribed timelines. Certification requirements are in DoD Instruction 1300.26.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

GS-07
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
  • Experience working with travel systems/databases (such as Defense Travel System, Joint Travel Regulation (JTR), and Joint Federal Travel Regulation (JFTR).
  • Experience providing guidance and assistance to civilian and military personnel on regulations and procedures pertaining to travel and transportation matters both domestic and foreign.
  • Experience with resolution of conflicts in interpretation, cost analysis and in travel matters necessary to provide efficient, expedient, and economical travel arrangements.
GS-06
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
  • Experience preparing, reviewing and auditing all supporting documentation pertaining to travel vouchers prior to any payment.
  • Experience interpreting and applying travel requirements, procedures, and functions.
  • Experience providing assistance to civilian and military personnel in filling out all claims for reimbursement by reviewing each claim for appropriateness in accordance with existing regulations.
