System Administrator - Atlassian

Job Description
The Atlassian System Administrator role is responsible for working to ensure Atlassian Data Center is built and will scale to internal specifications, supported per best practices and internal procedures, and is managed appropriately so end users are supported. Within this role you will lead process implementation, integrate Atlassian with other internal applications, migrate content from decommissioning environments and systems to Atlassian, drive efficiencies for our team, and train end users on how to use the system as well as its export control functionalities.

Responsibilities

• Infrastructure setup, installation, maintenance, continuous monitoring of application and server performance, and integration of Jira, JSM and Confluence with other business-critical applications and systems
• Ensure our Atlassian applications are reliable, secure, scalable, and seamlessly connected to our broader IT ecosystem
• Design, deploy, and maintain the infrastructure for Atlassian Jira and Confluence Data Center deployments tailored to IT industry requirements
• Install, configure, and upgrade Jira and Confluence Data Center applications and related components
• Monitor application and infrastructure health to ensure optimal performance, availability, and reliability
• Conduct web application performance investigations and implement tuning measures to optimize Jira and Confluence responsiveness and throughput
• Perform regular maintenance, including backups, patching, and capacity planning to maintain system integrity
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to Atlassian products and supporting infrastructure swiftly
• Plan and implement integrations of Jira and Confluence with other internal and third-party applications, APIs, and systems to streamline workflows and data synchronization
• Collaborate with IT teams, developers, and DevOps to implement best practices for deployment, integration, and operations
• Enforce security best practices, manage user access, and ensure compliance with internal and external IT policies
• Document system architecture, integration points, operational procedures, and incident resolutions
• Analyze performance metrics and recommend optimizations to improve system scalability and efficiency
• Stay updated on Atlassian product updates, integration tools, IT industry trends, and monitoring tool enhancements
• Experience with integrating Jira and Confluence via APIs, webhooks, and plugins with other enterprise applications and systems

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

• Experienced working in an air-gapped environment
• Experience directly integrating Atlassian products with other systems
• Strong expertise in infrastructure setup, clustering, load balancing, and high availability configurations
• Proficient with Linux/Windows server environments and virtualization platforms
• Experience managing databases supporting Atlassian applications (MSSQL, PostgreSQL, or
• MySQL)
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
• Prompt issue resolution with JIRA Projects and Confluence in coordination with other admins, partner teams and Atlassian premier support

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

• Solid understanding of networking, security, and backup strategies in an IT context
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within cross-functional IT teams
• Working knowledge of both Scrum and Kanban methodologies
• Excellent with problem solving and troubleshooting

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $72150 - $122655

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
