Test Engineer
OASYS, INC., a Leading-Edge Government contractor, is seeking applicants for a Test Engineer to support our customer in Huntsville, Alabama.
Position Summary and Responsibilities
The individual in this position would be considered a mid-level to senior engineer with experience commiserate of that level. Initially, the individual would support development of overall program test program and planning. The individual will work in collaboration with support from Test Engineer(s), Systems and Design Engineer(s). The individual would be responsible for a broad range of test program activities over the duration of the program from supporting the development of the testing requirements including verification and validation (V&V), test planning and procedure development to oversight of test execution itself, including some at remote locations. The individual would be expected to work with elements of the broader design team to prepare for, design, and execute test events, ultimately concluding with Site Acceptance Testing at the customer's facility. In addition to general tasks to support the test program's development, other specific tasks associated with this position include:
Support the program manager, system and design engineers determine and decompose test requirements, develop the project test plans, procedures and the verification and validation (V&V) plans.
Support and train less experienced engineers to plan, develop, and execute program test objectives
Perform engineering review of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements
Develop and maintain a working knowledge of nuclear industry specifications and standards
Prepare reports and briefings for upper management and customer submission to communicate status and results of test activities
Create, review, generate, update, and release test documentation suitable for review and approval by the customer and regulatory authorities
Travel to test sites to plan for, coordinate, and oversee active test events
Work with other team members to execute design, analysis, and fabrication of test hardware
Communicate and closely work with both technical and non-technical program functions
Supervisory Responsibilities
This job has no supervisory responsibilities but will be required to lead tests and provide technical counsel and direction to other conducting tests.

Systems Engineering; familiarity with systems engineering processes related to the derivation and documentation of system, sub-system, and component level requirements for NRC programs. Manufacturing/Construction Environment; familiar and comfortable with supporting hardware production and laboratory construction operations via hands-on activities.
Oral Communication - Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; responds well to questions; participates in meetings.
Written Communication – Excellent technical writing skills especially regarding developing test plans, procedures and test reports that will be provided to management, systems and design engineers, test personnel (i.e. individuals conducting tests,) customers and regulators. Writes clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar; presents numerical data effectively; able to read and interpret written information.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year accredited college or university in mechanical engineering and 5-10 plus years of directly related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Specific experience related to test conduction and troubleshooting and working with large mechanical systems, mechanisms and equipment with industrial control systems found within industrial, power, chemical, process and/or manufacturing plants is preferred. Specific experience in the nuclear (commercial or government) and energy production industries is preferred. Experience working within the rigors of an NQA-1 QA Program is a strong plus. Active PE license is also a plus.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general engineering codes and standards as well as Nuclear industry specifications, regulations, and guidelines.
Ability to write test plans, procedures reports, business correspondence, and technical manuals is a mandatory requirement.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from team members, managers, and customers.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to generate supporting engineering calculations for submission to the customer.
Ability to create and develop first order calculations for their respective engineering disciplines
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and be able to access and manipulate 3D CAD software (SolidWorks and PDM preferred).
