Amentum is looking for a Facility Control Center Manager to join our team!

Essential Responsibilities:

The Facility Control Center Manager is responsible for overseeing the centralized operations and monitoring of all facility systems and ensuring their effective and efficient functionality. The role involves managing a team of operators, developing and implementing control room procedures, ensuring compliance with safety and operational policies, and responding to emergencies or system disruptions. The Facility Control Center Manager serves as the primary point of operational coordination for the control center and ensures continuous monitoring of critical building systems, including HVAC, electrical, fire suppression, and security systems. Primary responsibilities include:
  • Control Center Operations Oversight:
    • Supervise the operation of centralized control systems that monitor HVAC, electrical, fire suppression, security, and other critical facility systems.
    • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure efficient and effective control room operations.
    • Establish protocols for responding to alarms, emergencies, and system anomalies, ensuring rapid resolution in coordination with facility teams.
  • Team Leadership & Management:
    • Manage and mentor a team of control center operators and technicians, providing training, guidance, and performance evaluations.
    • Assign and oversee daily tasks, schedules, and shift coverage to ensure 24/7 operational readiness.
    • Promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement within the control center team.
  • Monitoring & Reporting:
    • Oversee the continuous monitoring of facility systems via the Building Automation System (BAS) or other platforms to proactively identify and resolve issues.
    • Ensure that all system alarms, trends, and irregularities are escalated appropriately and documented accurately.
    • Prepare and deliver daily, weekly, and monthly reports on system performance, incidents, and operational metrics.
  • Emergency Response & Coordination:
    • Act as the lead point of contact during system failures, critical incidents, or emergency situations within the facility.
    • Develop and implement emergency response plans and coordinate with facility teams to ensure swift and safe resolutions.
    • Maintain clear communication with senior management, operational teams, and external stakeholders during emergency events.
  • Maintenance & System Optimization:
    • Coordinate with maintenance teams, contractors, and technicians to prioritize system repairs, preventative maintenance tasks, and upgrades.
    • Identify opportunities for system optimization and energy efficiency by analyzing control system data and trends.
    • Ensure downtime for preventative maintenance or repairs is carefully planned and communicated to minimize disruptions.
  • Compliance & Standards Enforcement:
    • Ensure control room operations adhere to organizational policies, industry standards, and applicable regulatory and safety codes.
    • Maintain documentation of operational activities, ensuring compliance with audits and reviews.
    • Promote adherence to cybersecurity protocols for control systems and ensure all systems are properly secured.
  • Systems Integration & Upgrades:
    • Coordinate the integration of new systems or technologies with the control center's existing infrastructure.
    • Work with engineering teams and vendors to review and evaluate system upgrades and enhancements.
    • Oversee system testing and commissioning to ensure functional reliability.


Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the Facility Control Center Manager will frequently operate within:
  • A structured control center environment with extended periods of computer and monitor use to oversee building systems.
  • Facilities and building environments that may require exposure to mechanical systems, noise, vibrations, or temperature fluctuations during inspections or emergencies.

The position requires:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and monitoring system data from screens and computers.
  • Occasional walking, climbing, and bending to access equipment during inspections and system checks.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess system metrics, resolve operational issues, and prioritize competing demands.
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure, especially when coordinating responses to critical system alarms or disruptions.

Noise levels are typically low within the control center but may rise when working near mechanical or HVAC systems.

Minimum Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Facility Management, or a related field (experience equivalent may be considered).
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in facilities management, building automation systems (BAS), or control room operations, with at least two (2) years of supervisory experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of control and monitoring systems, including Building Automation Systems (BAS), SCADA, and alarm monitoring platforms.
  • Strong understanding of critical building systems, including HVAC, fire suppression, electrical, and security systems.
  • Familiarity with energy efficiency practices, system optimization, and preventative maintenance strategies.
  • Proficiency in applicable safety codes and regulatory standards, such as NFPA, OSHA, and local building codes.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills to manage teams, resolve conflicts, and coordinate with stakeholders.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in diagnosing system issues and implementing solutions.
  • Proficiency with office software suites (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and database management tools.


Clearance Required (If Applicable):
  • TS/SCI with Poly (if required).


Minimum Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Facility Management, or a related field.
  • Equivalent experience in a relevant field may be substituted for formal education.


Minimum Years of Experience:
  • Five (5) years of relevant experience, including two (2) years of supervisory or management experience


Required Certifications (If Any):
  • Certification in Facility Management or Building Automation Systems (e.g., IFMA CFM, LEED AP, or other relevant certification) is preferred.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced certifications in building systems management, such as Certified Energy Manager (CEM), or OSHA certification for safety in facilities operations.

Compensation Details:
$150,000 to $200,000
