The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance. APL provides eligible staff with a comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and training and development. As a Systems Administrator, you will:
- Provide system administration support for VMware and Windows environments within highly classified facilities.
- Configure, install, and maintain standalone and networked computer systems.
- Design and support solutions in complex LAN and WAN environments.
- Secure systems in mixed environments in accordance with Protection Level 3 classified requirements.
- Manage user accounts, including password resets and annual recertification activities.
- Diagnose and resolve complex hardware and software issues.
- Contribute to security documentation including configuration documentation, Security CONOPS, Security Controls Traceability Matrices, and System Security Plans.
- Implement and monitor cybersecurity policies and procedures to ensure compliance with government and organizational requirements.
- Perform system backups and recovery operations to ensure data integrity, availability, and reliability.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and implement patch management to remediate identified findings.
- Maintain the operational security posture of assigned systems to support mission continuity.
- Install, configure, and maintain server operating systems and utility software in accordance with cybersecurity best practices.
- Identify and remediate security weaknesses and recommend improvements to strengthen system resilience.
- Support business continuity and disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution.
- Maintain awareness of emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and industry best practices.
Qualifications
You meet our minimum qualifications if you have:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong organizational, documentation and communication skills.
- Experience configuring and administering VMware environments.
- Experience with PKI, RSA, and Windows Certificate Services.
- Hands-on experience administering classified computer systems or networks.
- Experience building and maintaining Active Directory environments.
- Experience configuring operating systems, applications, and user settings using Group Policy.
- Experience with security tools such as ACAS, Splunk, Ivanti, or McAfee.
- Experience with NetApp or SAN technologies.
- Experience with scripting or automation tools
- Experience applying STIGs to operating systems and applications.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for operating systems and applications.
- Hold an Active Top Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain TS/SCI level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
- DoD 8570 certification, such as Security+, or the ability to obtain certification within six months of employment.
Desired Qualifications
You will exceed minimum qualifications if you have:
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Multi-tenant or Protection Level 3 configuration experience.
- Experience building and configuring physical systems.
- Experience configuring managed switches.
- Experience with endpoint protection platforms.
- Experience with Linux operating system
- Familiarity with DCID or ICD security requirements.
- Experience with HP Secure Print.
