You'll conceptualize and deliver complex mechanical structures and systems and your technical duties include the design and development of new products and processes throughout the product lifecycle. We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer III to join our team and play a key role in advancing our next-generation ISR product lines. The Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) business area provides affordable, turn-key command/control, communications, integrated ISR, force protection and security solutions worldwide. The MST team has a long legacy of supporting the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, commercial and international customers with years of experience in platform operations, engineering and full lifecycle management across domains - air, land, sea, space and cyber.
Responsibilities
Functional Team LeadershipLead teams to ensure seamless collaboration across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain disciplines. Drive accountability, resolve conflicts, and ensure the team meets technical, cost, and schedule objectives for program success.
Execution Monitoring and ControlResponsibilities include managing control accounts using Earned Value Management (EVM) principles, monitoring and controlling project work against the plan, supporting project-level issue resolution, and performing functional area replanning as needed. Additionally, these responsibilities involve managing project stakeholder engagement and preparing and delivering project status reports for Mechanical Engineering tasks.
Technical Execution OversightResponsible for overseeing system requirements definition and analysis, ensuring design definition aligns with architecture, and supervising integration, verification, and validation activities.
Risk, Configuration, and Data ManagementIdentify and analyzing project risks and opportunities, executing risk treatment and mitigation actions, managing and controlling configuration baselines, and collecting, storing, and analyzing project measurement data.
Cross-Disciplinary CollaborationWork closely with other engineering disciplines, program management, and external suppliers to align technical objectives and ensure product integrity throughout the lifecycle. Build strong working relationships to achieve shared goals and deliver high-quality outcomes.
Mentorship and Development of Early Career Mechanical EngineersProvide technical guidance, career development support, and constructive feedback to junior engineers. Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment where team members can grow their skills and contribute to project success.
Process Development and Continuous ImprovementIdentify opportunities to streamline workflows, improve engineering processes, and enhance team efficiency. Consult on and implement best practices, tools, and methodologies to drive continuous improvement and maintain a culture of operational excellence.

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $98,633.53 - $135,621.11. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors, such as candidates' key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.

Qualifications You Must Have:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- 6+ years of experience in mechanical engineering or a related role.
- Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
- Advanced understanding of mechanical design principles and computer-aided design (CAD) software.
- Practical knowledge of engineering principles and practices
- Experience with Computer Aided Engineering tools
- Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams
- Ability to obtain and maintain United States Top Secret Security Clearance
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Master's degree in a related field.
- Understanding of applying and interpreting Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5
- Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry
- Knowledge of industry-standard mechanical design principles, to include, but not limited to parametric design, model-based definition, material hardware selection, manufacturing, and production processes
- Knowledge of environmental requirements for components utilized in aircraft and space applications
- 2 years of previous team lead experience
- Experience providing technical guidance to a diverse team of engineers on issues related to mechanical engineering
- Experience with manufacturing, production, and product support to include disposition of engineering non-conformances
- Familiarity with FAA , NASA, and/or DoD design and construction regulations
