Northrop Grumman's Space Systems sector is seeking a Sr. Principal Software Engineer (T04) to join our Design & Analysis (D&A) Methods and Processes team as the Software Architecture Lead. In this role, you will contribute to advancing engineering capabilities by developing tailored software solutions that enable and optimize complex workflows for the design and analysis of Solid Rocket Motors. This position is based on-site at our Promontory, UT facility.
As the Software Architecture Lead, you will apply your expertise in software development and architecture to guide and oversee the design of custom modeling and simulation software. A key focus will be on integrating new tools into existing engineering workflows to enhance efficiency and streamline processes. Additionally, you will develop and architect solutions to improve the team's software development capabilities, such as advanced continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines. This is a unique opportunity to join a talented and diverse team, where your work will directly contribute to advancements that shape the future of the aerospace and defense industry.
This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.

Primary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

- Lead the implementation of software solutions as a hands-on member of a collaborative Scrum team, ensuring high-quality and timely deliverables.
- Mentor and guide junior software engineers, providing technical expertise, code reviews, and support to foster their professional growth and development.
- Ensure alignment between architectural plans and implementation, conducting regular reviews to verify that systems are built according to specifications and meet required performance standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, integrate software tools, and optimize workflows to enhance engineering efficiency.
- Drive continuous improvement of development practices, including implementing best practices for software architecture, design, and agile methodologies.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (STEM degree) with 8 years of professional experience - OR - Master's degree with 6 years of professional experience - OR - PhD with 4 years of professional experience.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance
- Demonstrated expertise in software architecture, including the ability to design scalable, maintainable, and modular solutions for engineering applications.
- Experience in developing modeling and simulation software to support complex engineering workflows, including design, analysis, or manufacturing processes.
- Proficiency in Python and C++, with a proven history of designing, developing, and maintaining robust and efficient software systems.
- Experience in integrating new software tools into existing engineering workflows, optimizing processes and improving efficiency.
- Strong technical problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex requirements and translate them into effective software solutions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced proficiency in Python and C++ with experience in developing high-performance, scalable, and modular modeling and simulation software systems for engineering applications.
- Hands-on experience with continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, including automating build, testing, and deployment processes for complex software.
- Demonstrated ability to optimize and re-architect legacy systems, seamlessly integrating new tools while maintaining or enhancing workflow performance.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and active participation in Scrum team practices, including sprint planning, retrospectives, and iterative development cycles.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to lead technical discussions, collaborate across disciplines, and effectively present technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
- Knowledge of engineering design and analysis tools or processes, such as CAD, FEA, or similar systems, to better understand and contribute to engineering workflows.
- Active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance.
