Precise Systems seeks an Engineering Technician (Level III) to join our Precise Systems team at Naval Surface Warfare Center Port Hueneme Division (NSWC PHD) in support of our Weapon Systems Integration (WSI) contract. This full-time, San Diego-based position provides VLS engineering support in execution of the in-service engineering agent tasking across the VLS systems project portfolio. This role is critical in aligning engineering, test, and logistics activities with program objectives to sustain fleet readiness and increase combat system capabilities.

Duties:
  • Provide MK 41 VLS launcher technical support aboard USN and Allied ships, located at Naval Stations and Shipyards
  • Provide technical services for VLS tasks, including but not limited to: Ship Availability testing, Ordnance Alteration (ORDALT) installation, Shipboard Missile Firing, Technical Documentation authoring and review, Launcher Installation & Upgrades, Test & Evaluation, Launcher troubleshooting and failure investigations
  • Support Integrated Product Support for technical and logistics-related documentation, including but not limited to Technical Manuals (TM), Planned Maintenance System (PMS), operation and maintenance procedures, training materials, AIT workbooks, product quality deficiency reports (PQDRs), test plans & reports, technical requirement documents, and all other related documentation in support of various Launching Systems, canisters, and related test equipment

Required Experience:
  • At least (4) years' experience in electrical, mechanical, and computer systems, specifically related to MK 41 VLS launcher testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting & repair; use of technical manuals, engineering drawings & schematics, design documentation, and technical specifications for fault isolation and test plan generation
  • USN Navy Enlisted Classification (NEC) for MK 41 VLS: V64B (0979), V65B (0981), or V66B (0983)
  • As required, the candidate must successfully pass:
    • 10-week VLS In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA)/Fleet Service Representative (FSR) course
    • Complete the VLS Personnel Certification Program and obtain System Maintenance Certification (SMT) as a condition to continued employment

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions that enhance team effectiveness; Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with stakeholders, present findings, and facilitate technical discussion and collaboration
  • Ability to assess problem situations to identify root causes, gather and process relevant information, generate possible solutions, and make recommendations and/or resolve the problem; Ability to assess situations to determine the importance, urgency, and risks and make clear decisions which are timely and in the best performance of the task.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams)

Required Education:
  • High School Diploma
  • Associate level degree in an engineering discipline preferred

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to lift at least 25lbs
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
  • Valid driver's license for possible CONUS travel
  • Current U.S. passport for possible OCONUS travel

This position is covered by the Service Contract Labor Standard under a Wage Determination. As such Under the SCA selected candidates are entitled to both the hourly rate aforementioned and a health and welfare benefit. Precise Systems is meeting that benefit through the use of a bona fide plan which includes certain insurance coverage.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Due to the sensitivity of customer-related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.

Compensation at Precise Systems is determined by various factors, including education, experience, skills, competencies, and contract-specific requirements. The salary range for this position is $25.52 per hour to $36.06 per hour (annualized USD). This range represents the standard pay for this role and is just one component of Precise Systems' total compensation package.
