You will be the Environmental Technician for the Environmental, Safety & Health (ESH) team. Our team is responsible for supporting the Missiles & Fire Control-Dallas site's hazardous waste program.
What You Will Be Doing
As the Environmental Technician you will support the growing and dynamic operations of the Missiles & Fire Control-Dallas site in the ongoing management and enhancement of the hazardous waste program. As part of the Environmental, Safety & Health (ESH) Departments, candidate will be responsible for moving and transporting waste materials, empty containers and other necessary materials throughout the facility as required by the ESH department.

MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN - This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate must be able to obtain a Secret clearance.
Basic Qualifications:
Must have current or prior (within 2 years) Certification in: RCRA, Forklift Operator.
Ability to become certified in: Crane Operator, or willingness to obtain certifications. DOT, OSHA HAZWOPER.
Ability to be fit tested and wear a respirator.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, Excel) or willingness to learn.
Willingness to learn and use evolving computer technologies (mobile devices, tablets, scanners, etc.) to perform job duties.
Current valid drivers license.
Must have or be able to obtain a security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
Desired Skills:
6 months-1 year of experience in waste management with an associates degree in chemistry, environmental sciences, or related field of study; or 2 years of experience in related field with high school diploma.
Prior experience managing hazardous waste or performing emergency response is preferred but not required.
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Description:
You will be the Environmental Technician for the Environmental, Safety & Health (ESH) team. Our team is responsible for supporting the Missiles & Fire Control-Dallas site's hazardous waste program.
What You Will Be Doing
As the Environmental Technician you will support the growing and dynamic operations of the Missiles & Fire Control-Dallas site in the ongoing management and enhancement of the hazardous waste program. As part of the Environmental, Safety & Health (ESH) Departments, candidate will be responsible for moving and transporting waste materials, empty containers and other necessary materials throughout the facility as required by the ESH department.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Perform segregation, pouring/transferring into drums, packaging, and loading of liquid and solid waste materials.
- Ensure drum count is correct, internal labels are correct, and drum conditions are shippable in accordance with transportation and waste regulations.
- Track and coordinate hazardous waste disposal with ESH department and transporters.
- Maintain the 90-day storage areas, hazardous waste inventory logs, inventory of spill supplies, and inventory of empty containers.
- Maintain storage and work areas in a neat and orderly manner, including proper separation of materials.
- Safe operation of all equipment in accordance with company policy.
- Complete weekly inspection logs of hazardous waste storage areas.
- Understand and follow proper packaging and closure requirements for hazardous waste.
- Assist ESH department in collection of waste characterization samples.
- Provide assistance as needed in responding to hazardous material spills or release events, as well as other emergency response situations.
- Assist ESH department in monitoring secondary containment areas after rain events, complete discharge logs and release captured stormwater.
- Provide assistance replacing media and filters in selected equipment.
- Partner with ESH department to support and assist with compliance related matters.
- Position is labor intensive that will involve equipment operations and ability to safely move heavy items (i.e. 55-gallon drums, oversized packing containers).
- Work can be in adverse conditions such as heat or cold.
