IN-HOUSE COUNSEL
SCIS
We are seeking a sharp, business-minded attorney to join our Legal team as In-House Counsel. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, you will be a trusted legal partner across employment law, government contracting compliance, commercial contracts, and litigation, operating at the intersection of law and operational reality in a dynamic, security-focused environment.
This is not a passive advisory role. You will be embedded in the business, building relationships at every level, and delivering clear, actionable guidance that moves the organization forward.
What You'll Do
• Employment & Labor Law: Advise leadership and HR on the full range of employment matters to include wage & hour, discrimination, harassment, discipline, and separations while ensuring multi-state compliance with FLSA, FMLA, ADA, Title VII, and the NLRA. Draft and maintain employment agreements, handbooks, and restrictive covenants.
• Litigation & Administrative Proceedings: Manage employment litigation and agency charges before the EEOC, DOL, and NLRB. Draft position statements and legal memoranda, support internal investigations, and partner with outside counsel on strategy and budgeting.
• Government Contracting & Compliance: Advise on FAR/DFARS compliance, contract interpretation, bid protests, and claims. Counsel leadership on procurement integrity and regulatory updates; support internal audits in cleared environments.
• Commercial Contracting: Draft, review, and negotiate security services contracts, teaming agreements, NDAs, and vendor contracts. Identify risk and propose practical mitigation strategies.
• Training & Cross-Functional Support: Develop and deliver compliance training in partnership with HR. Serve as the go-to legal resource across the business, ensuring legal guidance is clear & actionable.
What We're Looking For
• U.S. citizenship preferred; ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance
• J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school; active bar membership in good standing in at least one state
• 5+ years of relevant legal experience in corporate counsel, private practice, or a regulated industry
• Strong working knowledge of federal and state labor and employment law
• Experience advising management, not solely representing employees or unions
• Demonstrated ability to manage and resolve disputes, claims, and administrative proceedings
• Experience supporting government contracting, security services operations, or multi-state service environments
• Familiarity with FAR/DFARS, NISPOM, or industrial security compliance in cleared environments
• Litigation management experience involving employment law and/or security incidents
• Knowledge of multi-state private security licensing and commercial guard force operations
What We Offer
• Competitive benefits (Medical/Dental/Vision/FSA/More)
• Paid time off (Vacation/Sick/Holidays)
• 401k+ match
• Be part of a growing company with a reputation for excellence
