This role is responsible for hands-on physical and logical network tasks, network troubleshooting, customer support, and assisting senior network personnel with installations and maintenance activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical ability, excellent customer service skills, and experience working in fast-paced enterprise environments.

Ryan Consulting Group, Inc. is seeking a Network Technician to support day-to-day network operations, perform Move/Add/Change (MAC) work, and respond to network incidents. This role is responsible for hands-on physical and logical network tasks, network troubleshooting, customer support, and assisting senior network personnel with installations and maintenance activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical ability, excellent customer service skills, and experience working in fast-paced enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform identified Move/Add/Change (MAC) activities, including physical and logical network modifications.
- Move or add network connections in network closets and terminate port connections at end locations (desk, office, conference rooms, etc.).
- Make required changes within switches to support port activation.
- Serve as first responder to ITSM and ServiceNow problem tickets, including customer contact, problem identification, corrective action, escalation, documentation, and closeout.
- Support network personnel with installation or modification of network infrastructure and components.
- Provide support during off-hours and weekends for maintenance windows or break/fix activities as needed.
- Monitor, control, and isolate problems on the data communications network; activate or deactivate network lines per schedule.
- Perform first- and second-level network problem determination; interface with users and network vendors.
- Set up and test systems and hardware prior to deployment.
- Analyze failed equipment, determine repairability, perform in-house repairs, or coordinate vendor RMAs.
- Test returned equipment to validate successful repairs.
- Ensure compliance with standard IT security rules and regulations.
- Physically install network assets such as switches, routers, firewalls, network tools, and testing devices in closets and data center cabinets.
- Logically configure network switches, tools, and testing devices.
- Complete circuit patching into switches.
- Perform network closet clean-up, switch port optimization, and survey work.
- Operate network test equipment (Layer 1-3).
- Monitor and respond to network alerts from monitoring tools.
- Administer the ITSM/ServiceNow ticket queue; respond to, update, and close incident and service request tickets.
- Support network break/fix activities to restore customer service; meet required SLAs.
- Provide customer-facing communication and take initial Tier 1 customer or help desk calls.
- Administer network asset tools to maintain accurate data integrity.
- Maintain network drawings and documentation tools.
- Support after-hours network change-control maintenance windows.
- Assist with organizing network equipment storage areas.
- Assist with network equipment RMA tasks.
- Update and maintain AutoCAD and Visio drawings.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience as a Network Technician.
- ACTIVE Secret Security Clearance
- CCNA strongly preferred (not required)
