We are seeking an experienced R&D Technical Documentation Specialist / Technical Writer to join our multidisciplinary aerospace team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with engineers, thrives in a fast-paced development environment, and wants visibility across the full product lifecycle—from proposal generation through delivery of flight units.
Position Summary
The R&D Technical Documentation Specialist is a key contributor to our aerospace product development and mission assurance efforts. This role supports research & development, qualification, production, and delivery phases by producing high-quality technical documentation, including development and qualification test documentation, engineering reports, manufacturing instructions, and End Item Data Packages (EIDPs).
You will collaborate daily with engineers, technicians, quality, configuration management, and program management to ensure documentation accurately reflects technical intent, as-built configurations, and contractual requirements.
What You Will Do:
• Author, edit, and maintain aerospace technical documentation across the full product lifecycle, including:
o Proposal-related documentation as required
o Engineering and analysis reports
o Manufacturing work instructions, assembly, integration & test (AI&T) plans and procedures
o Development, acceptance, and qualification test plans and reports
o Interim, progress, and final technical reports
• Summarize technical documentation into presentation content for customer meetings
• Compile, validate, and deliver End Item Data Packages (EIDPs) for aerospace and satellite products, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and configuration integrity.
• Work closely with engineering, R&D, manufacturing, quality, AI&T, configuration management, and program management teams to gather and verify technical content.
• Apply established documentation standards, templates, and workflows (including customer and government standards).
• Manage multiple documents simultaneously through drafting, review, approval, and release cycles.
• Maintain strict configuration and revision control using document management and (Product Lifecycle Management) PLM tools.
• Perform light data analysis (basic statistics, graphing, regression) to support test reporting and technical accuracy.
• Ensure clarity, consistency, and technical correctness across all deliverables.
Recurring Responsibilities
• Prepare material characterization and test reports
• Produce acceptance and qualification test reports
• Draft manufacturing and fabrication procedures (e.g., shop orders, lab work requests)
• Assist in creating presentation content for customer meetings.
• Support configuration management and as-built documentation
• Track documentation status, deadlines, and approvals across multiple projects
Who you are:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in Engineering, Technical Communication, or a related discipline.
• 3-5 years of technical writing experience in the aerospace industry required.
• Demonstrated experience writing:
o Development and qualification test documentation
o Acceptance test reports

• Strong understanding of aerospace programs and environment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, test data, and non-conformance reports.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, and document collaboration tools.
• Comfortable working independently while collaborating across technical teams.
• Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
• U.S. Citizenship required (ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance; active clearance a plus).
Not required, but preferred
