These key personnel positions are critical to maintaining facility security, monitoring access control systems, and ensuring proper emergency response protocols are followed. This role requires individuals who can maintain vigilance, demonstrate sound judgment, and respond effectively to various security scenarios.

Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:
The Physical Security and Entry Control Specialist will serve as a key member of the Security Operations Center team, providing round-the-clock security monitoring and response capabilities. Core responsibilities include:
- Staff the central command and control center for the facility on a 24/7 basis through rotating shifts
- Monitor all life safety and security systems including alarms, access control, and CCTV cameras
- Provide notification of incidents to emergency first responders and Defense Security Office (DSO) staff
- Staff access control points and reception desks to manage facility entry
- Respond promptly to fire, security, and maintenance alarms
- Conduct interior patrols of the building and monitor exterior areas including parking facilities via CCTV
- Perform exterior patrols when CCTV coverage is inadequate or inoperable
- Control personnel access and manage visitor protocols including operation of fixed and/or portable barriers
- Dispatch security personnel as required to address security concerns
- Maintain detailed security logs and documentation of incidents
- Administer and maintain security databases
- Issue badges to authorized users as defined by the Government
- Input Visit Authorization Requests (VARs) in the DSO database or Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS)
- Provide security clearance verification
- Perform other administrative duties within the DSO security office as assigned
- Security personnel will work in rotations with a 30-minute overlap to ensure proper turnover between shifts. No security employee will remain on duty longer than 12 hours at a time and will have a minimum of 10 hours between shifts.
Education and Experience:
Required:
- Prior specialized experience staffing/operating a Security Operations Center
- SECRET-level security clearance
- Experience with electronic security systems and CCTV monitoring
- Background in security, law enforcement, military, or related field
- Experience with access control management and visitor processing
- Knowledge of security alarm systems and response protocols
Required Skills and Competencies:
- Proficiency in operating HIRSCH/Velocity electronic security systems and CCTV security cameras
- Ability to learn and demonstrate thorough understanding of DSO Security Standard Operating Procedures
- Capability to pass written/oral exams on security procedures within 15 business days of contract start
- Strong attention to detail and vigilance in monitoring multiple security systems simultaneously
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with emergency responders and security staff
- Ability to maintain composure and make sound decisions during emergency situations
- Experience with security database management
- Capability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Willingness to complete two supervised eight-hour shifts prior to assuming independent duties
- Ability to maintain accurate security logs and documentation
- Proficiency in managing visitor control systems and badge issuance
Desired Skills and Competencies:
- Prior military, law enforcement, or federal security experience
- Experience with JPAS or similar security clearance verification systems
- Knowledge of federal security protocols and procedures
- Prior experience in a government security operations center
- Training in emergency response procedures
- Familiarity with integrated electronic intrusion detection systems
- Experience with access control in classified or sensitive environments
