This role provides senior-level software engineering, cloud architecture, and DevSecOps planning support for mission-critical systems. The position focuses on secure, compliant, and scalable cloud-native solutions leveraging Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and modern CI/CD pipelines in Department of Defense (DoD) environments. The engineer serves as a technical lead and planner, translating program requirements into resilient software and cloud architectures that support lifecycle acquisition, integration, and sustainment.

Duties:

  • Develop and maintain Kubernetes manifests using Helm, Kustomize, and GitOps workflows to support repeatable, auditable deployments across environments.
  • Plan and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform to ensure consistent, compliant, and scalable cloud infrastructure.
  • Integrate DevSecOps practices throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including automated security scanning, configuration validation, and continuous compliance.
  • Design and manage CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab, Azure DevOps, Ansible, and other enterprise automation frameworks.
  • Implement and enforce Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), enterprise authentication, and identity management solutions leveraging Microsoft Entra ID and Active Directory services.
  • Apply DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), NIST SP 800-53, and NIST SP 800-171 controls within cloud and containerized environments.
  • Lead planning and execution of secure networking architectures, including subnetting, routing, load balancing, firewall integration, and zero-trust principles.
  • Support software and cloud planning activities including technical roadmaps, system architectures, and integration strategies aligned with acquisition milestones.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, system diagrams, and architecture artifacts to support program reviews, Authority to Operate (ATO) processes, and sustainment activities.
  • Collaborate with government stakeholders, contractors, and cross-functional engineering teams to translate mission needs into implementable technical solutions.
  • Evaluate and integrate open-source and CNCF-aligned technologies to maintain a cloud-agnostic, future-ready deployment approach.
  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers while supporting continuous process improvement and modernization initiatives.
