An established defense-focused engineering organization is seeking an Engineering Technical Specialist- Lean Six Sigma to support a Direct Attack Weapons Software team. This role supports mission-critical precision engagement systems that are deployed globally in support of U.S. and allied defense operations.
The organization develops, integrates, and sustains precision-guided munitions and associated delivery and targeting systems for military customers. Capabilities span engineering, testing, platform integration, and lifecycle support to ensure reliable performance across operational environments.
In this collaborative position, you will work closely with engineering and cross-functional program teams to identify technical knowledge gaps and develop targeted On-The-Job (OJT) learning solutions that drive real-time adoption of improved engineering practices.
As a Technical Specialist focused on Engineering Processes and Tools, you will provide expert guidance and mentorship to ensure effective implementation of engineering standards, tools, and methodologies. This role emphasizes technical excellence, process improvement, and fostering a culture of continuous learning.
Key Responsibilities
• Facilitate and lead team process improvement initiatives
• Assist in identifying and reducing technical debt
• Coordinate meetings, agendas, and action tracking
• Generate and refine software integration metrics
• Coordinate with external government stakeholders to provide flight test and program data
• Ensure engineering and operations processes support uninterrupted production activities
• Develop, document, implement, and enforce compliance with engineering tools, processes, and standards
• Lead Lean initiatives focused on safety, quality, delivery, and cost improvements across multiple programs
• Support execution of the Software Quality Management Plan
• Generate data to support Cost Account Managers (CAMs) through Earned Value Management System (EVMS) reporting
• Support staffing and adaptive planning processes
• Participate in major design milestone reviews, training events, and program meetings
• Submit and track facilities maintenance requests and coordinate escort support as required
• Partner with onboarding teams to support new employee integration
Required Qualifications
• 2–3+ years of experience working with engineering concepts, processes, and methods
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related technical discipline (or equivalent experience)
• Six Sigma Black Belt, Green Belt, or Lean Master certification
• Knowledge of Total Quality Management (TQM) and Change Management practices
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Effective delegation and follow-up capabilities
• Proficiency with Windows-based software tools
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage all organizational levels
• Prior experience working in classified environments
• Experience facilitating meetings with diverse stakeholders
• Risk and Opportunity Management (ROM) experience
• Experience with data analysis
