OFS is seeking motivated Junior FOIA Contractors to support a potential Government client by conducting initial request reviews, searches, drafting correspondence, and applying exemptions under supervision. This role ensures accurate and timely processing while contributing directly to reducing FOIA backlogs across the enterprise.
Junior FOIA Responsibilities:
• Conduct initial FOIA request reviews to assess scope, track type, and routing requirements.
• Perform record searches and compile responsive materials with guidance from senior staff.
• Assist with applying FOIA exemptions and redactions in accordance with VA and DOJ standards.
• Draft acknowledgment letters, clarification requests, interim notifications, and other FOIA correspondence.
• Update eFOIA systems and FOIA Request Tracker with accurate, real time data.
• Support processing of Simple, Complex, Expedited, and Backlogged requests.
• Adhere to required timelines and contribute to rolling release production when assigned.
• Complete all VA required FOIA training and follow established procedures.
Junior FOIA Qualifications:
• Minimum 1 year of FOIA request processing experience within the last 24 months.
• Foundational understanding of FOIA request types, timelines, and exemptions.
• Strong communication, writing, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and basic research tools.
• Associate degree preferred; additional FOIA experience may substitute for formal education.
• FOIA related training preferred.
