Start your future with a new mission, Northrop Grumman's Mission Systems sector is hiring a Staff Mission Assurance Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals supporting the Rolling Meadows facility as a SME to the Quality and Mission Assurance Organization supporting the Multidomain Sensing, Targeting and Survivability (MSTS) division. This opportunity will be located in Rolling Meadows, IL.

What You'll Get To Do :

The position will afford the opportunity to interact with all levels of the organization. Effective communication skills are a must. This person will be the primary technical advisor for all the restricted programs across the Rolling Meadows Clearance. In addition, the candidate will provide expert technical advice and guidance to team members.

The ideal candidate will have extensive practical knowledge and experience in the following areas:
  • Expertise in overseeing the design and development process for both software and hardware, ensuring coordination between technical teams and stakeholders.
  • Ensuring internal and contractual requirements are understood, and a path to compliance is established.
  • Skilled in actively participating in technical reviews (SAARR, PDR, CDR) to evaluate system designs and ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Skilled in conducting comprehensive contract reviews to ensure adherence to compliance and regulatory standards.
  • Utilize quantitative and predictive analysis to collaborate with program teams in assessing risks and opportunities, communicates findings to the project manager, and proactively identifies and escalates potentially mishandled risk issues, especially those related to risk acceptance.
  • Experience with configuration management, Configuration Control Board and a solid understanding of effectivity of design changes.
  • Knowledge of common engineering/manufacturing tools, methodologies and standards
  • Ability to identify and review product nonconformances, root cause/corrective action trends to drive prevention
  • Utilize Advanced Problem Solving tools to determine root cause and corrective action while leveraging comprehensive metrics and data analysis for complex problems and to prevent recurrence.
  • Plan, establish, implement and conduct scheduled and unscheduled audits to ensure that the Quality Management System is effectively implemented and maintained.
  • Understanding methods for verifying measurements, inspection and test requirements
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret complex contracts including experience with customer engagement to resolve complex contractual and compliance issues.
  • Skilled in verifying and assuring that project requirements meet quality and compliance standards
  • Generate Basis of Estimate for proposals.
  • Work as a specific Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Rolling Meadows Quality and Mission Assurance team on QMS principles and can resolve QMS questions/concerns


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field and a minimum of 12 years of experience or a Master's degree in STEM and a minimum of 10 years of experience or 8 years with a Ph.D
  • In-depth knowledge of NG Quality Management System processes(Principles and Operating. Practices, ISO 9001, AS9100, and customer FAR & DFAR requirements) and can resolve QMS questions/concerns
  • Experience with customer interactions, including DCMA
  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years, with the ability to gain Special Access Program (SAP) Clearances
  • US Citizenship Required


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to use Advanced Problem Solving tools to determine root cause and corrective action while leveraging comprehensive metrics and data analysis for complex problems and to prevent recurrence.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret complex contracts including experience with customer engagement to resolve complex contractual and compliance issues.
  • Experience with generating Basis of Estimate for proposals.
  • Financial planning, budgeting, and earned value experience for both proposals and program execution.
  • Green Belt Certified/Black Belt Certified


Primary Level Salary Range: $169,000.00 - $253,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
