Sr. Linux Systems Administrator - REMOTE

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Sr. Linux Systems Administrator to support a company focused on sustaining and enhancing the Reliability and Maintainability Information System (REMIS), a mission-critical system used for collecting and managing equipment maintenance data for government customers. This position is remote based on customer direction and needs. The Sr. Linux Systems Administrator will maintain, configure, and troubleshoot Red Hat Linux-based systems and support enterprise-level application environments. This role directly supports a high-impact federal mission by ensuring REMIS remains reliable, secure, and fully optimized.

Responsibilities for the Sr. Linux Systems Administrator include:

• Maintaining, configuring, and troubleshooting Linux-based systems and applications
• Designing and implementing Linux-based solutions to meet business and mission needs
• Developing and maintaining scripts using Ansible, Python, Perl, and Bash
• Monitoring system performance and deploying updates, upgrades, and security patches
• Supporting system security, firewall configurations, authentication measures, and incident response

Required Qualifications for the Sr. Linux Systems Administrator include:

• 7+ years of experience maintaining, configuring, and troubleshooting Red Hat Linux systems
• Experience with GovCloud services, Docker containerization, Java application troubleshooting, network troubleshooting, and firewall rule troubleshooting
• Strong analytical/problem-solving skills and understanding of incident management and system administration tools (e.g., Cron)
• Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II certification at start date, such as CySA+, CND, Security+CE, or CCNA-Security
• U.S. Citizenship (per government contract requirement)
• Current DoD T5 investigation (commonly associated with a Top Secret clearance, though TS is not required)
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently

Desired Qualifications and Skills:

• B.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
• Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
