What does this role look like?
This position serves as the SMD SDS Portfolio Software Director, responsible for the cost, schedule, and technical execution of software, NGC, and testbed, and simulation efforts for the SDS portfolio of programs.
This position will partner with LOB program leadership and E&T talent center leadership to execute program objectives.
In this role you will have the following daily key responsibilities:
This role requires an experienced leader with experience leading complex software-focused programs and skilled in fostering customer and supplier relationships, and inspiring a large organization through actions that enhance the employee experience, create a culture of engineering excellence, and influence innovation.
The selected candidate must have a passion for talent development and creating strategies to hire and retain talent, a deep background and understanding of software development, and demonstrated ability to establish a culture of engineering excellence through collaboration, process improvement and creation of leading indicator metrics.
This position does not support teleworking; the preferred candidate will be located near our Lockheed Martin Space facility in Rocket City USA, one of the greatest places to work: Huntsville, AL , and be expected to work in the office.
Basic Qualifications:
To be effective, you will need to possess these basic qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in STEM field, from an accredited college, or equivalent experience/combined education
• Proven software-leadership of complex, mission-critical programs
• Portfolio-level technical oversight
• Hands-on experience with 1LMX, Software Factory, AI, and other advanced technologies
• Familiarity with Missile-defense, and Navigation, Guidance & Control (NGC) knowledge
• Full-spectrum strategic leader; builds high-performing teams; Leader of leaders; mentors and develops technical talent.
• Strong experience in partnership building with customers (MDA/Space Force) and suppliers.
• You will need to be a US Citizen, and currently possess and be able to maintain a US DoD TOP SECRET clearance, with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI, to support this government contract, as well as successfully pass a drug and background check, in order to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

• Strategic thinking & change management
• Ability to close complex, large-scale technical issues
