We are seeking a Software Engineer to support mission-critical development efforts. This role involves designing, developing, and deploying software in secure, Linux-based environments while working with distributed systems and agency-aligned tools.
What You’ll Do:
- Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications.
- Build scalable and reliable systems supporting mission operations.
- Develop in Linux environments using modern languages and frameworks.
- Work with distributed data platforms and high-volume data flows.
- Collaborate with mission teams, system engineers, and DevOps.
- Participate in code reviews, Agile sprints, and technical discussions.
Required Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI w/ Full Scope Polygraph (no exceptions).
- 5+ years of software engineering experience.
-Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, Information Systems, Information Technology, Mathematics, or Physics; OR 4 additional years of experience
- Experience with one or more core languages: Java, Python, C/C++.
- Hands-on development experience in Linux/Unix environments.
- Experience with relevant tools such as:
* Big Data / Distributed Systems: Hadoop, Accumulo, MapReduce, NiFi
* Messaging: Kafka, ZeroMQ
* Databases: MongoDB, Elasticsearch, SQL/NoSQL
* DevOps Tools: Git, Jenkins, Maven/Gradle, Ansible, Docker
* Cloud / Virtualization: OpenStack, containerized environments
- Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and software design principles.
Preferred Skills
- Experience building REST APIs or microservices.
- Familiarity with container orchestration (Kubernetes).
- Experience supporting SIGINT missions or data workflows.
- Background in large-scale, distributed system development.
