Markon is seeking a Systems Engineer with Data Policy and Governance experience to support enterprise data stewardship initiatives across the IC community. This role blends systems engineering, data governance, and policy implementation to ensure responsible, compliant, and effective use of data.
This position requires a critical thinker who can translate policy into action, improve governance effectiveness, and leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to enhance compliance and data management practices

Responsibilities
- Translate governance policies into operational processes and technical solutions, providing clear guidance to Data Stewards and stakeholders
- Collaborate with Data Stewards, Steward Representatives, and the broader IC community to analyze and optimize data attributes, metadata, and repository certifications
- Support Certified Data Repository (CDR) processes and promote strong attribute-level governance practices
- Develop predictive models and statistical analyses to monitor compliance, data quality, and stewardship outcomes
- Apply AI and machine learning techniques to automate governance workflows (e.g., anomaly detection, classification, policy adherence monitoring)
- Create and maintain governance metrics, dashboards, and reporting frameworks to track performance and compliance
- Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure certified data assets meet standards for accuracy, consistency, accessibility, and policy alignment
- Recommend and implement process improvements and technical solutions that enhance governance efficiency and effectiveness
Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI with Polygraph
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM field or related discipline
- Knowledge of Identity and Access Management (IdAM) / Identity, Credential, and Access Management (ICAM) delivery systems
- Experience with Authentication, Authorization, and Attribute Architectures
- Familiarity with data governance principles, compliance frameworks, and metadata management
- Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to balance technical solutions and policy/compliance requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical insights to policy and Sponsor stakeholders
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with governance and metadata platforms (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation)
- Awareness of Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) policy and experience contributing to security policy updates
- Hands-on experience with automation solutions
- Experience applying AI/ML in governance, compliance, or data quality environments
