Qualifications
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional Engineering Technician. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1. Analyzing and resolving issues within shipboard electrical systems in areas such as electrical distribution, shipboard generators, switchboards and engineering control, to solve problems affecting the overall system; AND
2. Providing technical assistance for equipment casualty reports to identify significant aspects of problems, causes and corrections; AND
3. Performing maintenance of shipboard systems in a systems qualifications test environment for operational readiness.

- You will develop solutions to design problems and resolve conflicting engineering requirements.
- You will be responsible for functional checkout, test, and inspection of major systems.
- You will provide technical assistance for urgent mission-degrading Casualty Reports or similar problems affecting equipment.
- You will provide assistance to diagnose or correct complex technical problems for shipboard systems.
- You will provide guidance for repair/overhaul or test/grooming problems.

- This position may require travel to places within and outside the contiguous United States which could include remote or isolated sites. You may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

- Work may occur aboard naval vessels (naval facilities, ports, shipyards, vessels underway).
- Work may involve walking, climbing, standing on hard steel decks, crawling in/around equipment with marginal accessibility, exposure to hazardous conditions.
- Travel may include at sea on naval ships located throughout the world (including combat zones). Use of small boats, helicopters, aircraft, high line transfer may be used for transfers to ships.
