The United States Space Force (USSF) Space Operations Command (SpOC) at Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado is searching for a Satellite Control Network Engineer (NH-0855-03, GS 12/13 equivalent).
Description:
As a key member of our engineering team, you will be the technical authority for the ground-based systems that control our satellites. You will lead projects to modernize our ground stations, replacing legacy hardware with cutting-edge technology, and implement upgrades to critical RF, digital, and telemetry systems to counter new threats. Serving as a subject matter expert, you will solve tough problems by assisting various agencies and collaborating on updates to the Satellite Control Network. A crucial part of your role is to conduct system analysis and testing to guarantee our global network meets stringent performance and reliability standards, ensuring total mission readiness.
In your capacity as the 22 SOPS engineering consultant, you will also provide continuous technical support and long-term continuity. This includes offering your expertise to various task forces and related working groups, ensuring seamless integration and sustained excellence across our operations.
The ideal candidate for this role is a mission-focused Electrical Engineer who thrives on solving complex, high-stakes challenges. You possess a strong foundation in RF systems, satellite communications, and digital signal processing, and excel in a group effort to troubleshoot unique hardware and software anomalies. Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Professional knowledge of the Satellite Control Network (SCN) and related technical concepts, principles, and practices related to space operations and control environment.
2. Professional knowledge of engineering concepts, principles, and practices and extensive familiarity with other professional disciplines to include space operations and some technical expertise in aerospace and mechanics disciplines, and extensive knowledge of the requirements process.
3. Broad-based knowledge of other Space Delta missions, external user agency missions, etc.
4. Ability to interpret policy and regulations; interpret and develop procedures and systems processes.
5. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing is essential as well as knowledge of security policies and procedures.
6. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization.

- Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed "Unscheduled Telework".

- Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance with SCI access.
- A professional engineering degree at the bachelor's level from an ABET accredited institution is required.
- This position has been designated for drug testing. Incumbent is subject to random urinalysis testing as a condition of employment.
- This is a Supervisory position being filled.
- Incumbent must be able to perform extended and recurring TDY. Incumbent will be required to use commercial or government transportation.
