Duties

  • Performs and enforces Pass and Registration duties, processes applications and issues identification cards, contractor access badges and temporary passes to eligible personnel.
  • Performs and enforces the full range of identity proofing, vetting and fitness determinations for installation access.
  • Manages the administration of the Restricted Area Badge (RAB) Program. Processes applications and issues Restricted Area Badges.
  • Maintains controlled forms and provides general customer service.

    • Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.

    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
    • Competent knowledge of Adobe Suite and Microsoft Office programs.
    • Must obtain and maintain certification on the following law enforcement systems: FCIC/NCIC, DAVIDS.
    • Typing and knowledge of how to operate a computer is required, however, a qualified typist is not required.
    • Incumbent may be required to perform other related duties as assigned.
    • Individual must not have any Felony convictions.
    • May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours and/or Shift work may be required which may include overtime and/or irregular hours.
    • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft/vehicle to conferences, meetings, or functions away from the duty office/location. Travel may include overnight stays.

    Qualifications

    In order to qualify, you must meet the general experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, Series 0086

    GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates my ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. Knowledge such as the body of standardized security rules, regulations, and directives to support and process a variety of standard personnel security actions, ID cards, vehicle permits, restricted area badges, or other forms of authorization.

    EDUCATION: Two years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.

    COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience as described in the job opportunity announcement may be used to qualify for this position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

    1. Knowledge/Ability to exercise sound judgment in application of security directives and principles. Ability to plan and organize work, follow instructions, and accomplish multiple ongoing projects.
    2. Knowledge of personnel security, investigation processes and applicable AF regulations, directives, instructions regarding security and force protection measures.
    3. Knowledge and ability to operate Criminal Justice Information Systems, to include National Crime Information Center (NCIC), CLETS Air Force Justice Information System (AFJIS) and DATAMAXX. Operate one or more automated databases associated with a specific security function to support office and security operations and produce a variety of documents and reports.
    4. Knowledge of Foreign Visit System (FVS) and electronic Physical Access Control System (ePACS) vetting standards for visitors requesting installation access.
    5. Knowledge of Homeland Security Presidential Directive - 6 (HSPD-6), criminal codes/statutes and immigration laws used in screening personnel and Homeland Security Presidential Directive - 12 (HSPD-12), policy for common identification standard for federal employees and contractors.
    6. Ability to plan and organize work, follow instructions, guide others and accomplish multiple ongoing projects and communicate effectively with a diverse group of individuals, using a high degree of tact and diplomacy.

    PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

    VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
