The Lead Accounts Payable Specialist oversees the accounts payable process, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments. Leads the accounts payable team by providing guidance, training, and support to staff. Reviews and reconciles vendor statements, resolves discrepancies, and maintains strong vendor relationships. Ensures compliance with company policies and accounting standards. Collaborate with other departments to streamline payment processes and improve efficiency. Prepares reports and documentation related to accounts payable activities for management review.

Essential Functions
  • Review, verify, and process high-volume vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy and proper coding to general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare and execute weekly payment runs (ACH, wire transfers, checks) in accordance with payment terms.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for vendor inquiries, resolve discrepancies, and maintain positive relationships.
  • Perform monthly AP reconciliations and assist with resolving outstanding issues.
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in generating AP aging reports and other financial reports as needed.
  • Support accruals, expense analysis, and provide documentation for audits.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline AP processes and implement best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Competencies
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance -U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Strong knowledge of AP processes and accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar) and MS Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with automated AP systems and electronic payment platforms.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Education / Certifications
  • Associate's degree in accounting or related field
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred

Experience
  • 8+ years general accounting experience
  • 2+ years accounts payable experience
  • Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

AEVEX provides a reasonable range of compensation. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific location. The range of starting pay for this position is for the listed location only.

Salary Range

$95,000 - $105,000 USD
