We are seeking a CMDB Architect & Administrator to own the design, implementation, governance, and operational integrity of the ServiceNow Configuration Management Database (CMDB). This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and complete configuration item (CI) data in secure environments where automated discovery may be limited due to security constraints.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement the CMDB data model, including CI classes, attributes, and relationship mappings
- Establish and enforce data governance policies, reconciliation rules, and quality metrics to maintain CMDB integrity
- Collect asset and configuration data manually from infrastructure teams, inventories, and documentation sources across secure enclaves
- Create and update Configuration Items (CIs) in ServiceNow (servers, network devices, applications, databases, etc.)
- Validate asset data accuracy through cross-referencing and technical SME verification sessions
- Build and maintain service maps and dependency views for critical business services
- Develop integration strategies for external asset repositories and third-party data sources
- Support change, incident, and problem management processes with accurate CI data
- Train stakeholders on CMDB structure, CI relationships, and data maintenance procedures
- Develop documentation for data collection standards, validation processes, and field definitions
- Generate CMDB health, completeness, and accuracy reports for leadership and compliance stakeholder
Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
- Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering or related STEM field OR Master's degree plus 3 years of related experience
- Active DoD Secret security clearance required at time of hire
- Experience:
- 5+ years of job-related IT experience
- 3+ years of hands-on CMDB design and administration experience
- Technical Expertise:
- CMDB data modeling and entity-relationship design
- Configuration Item (CI) lifecycle management
- IT Asset Management (ITAM) and configuration management principles
- Data governance and data quality management
- ITIL configuration management processes
- Asset lifecycle management
- Working in secure or classified environments
Preferred Qualifications:
- Agile environment experience
- ServiceNow CIS-CMDB (Certified Implementation Specialist - CMDB)
- OR CIS-SAM (Software Asset Management) Certification
