Position Overview
Strategic Technology Institute (STi) is seeking experienced Aircraft Mechanics (Levels I, II, and III) to support VFA-125 operations at Naval Air Station (NAS) Lemoore, CA. These positions perform and oversee organizational-level aircraft maintenance, repair, and modification to ensure mission readiness and compliance with Navy standards. Candidates will work as part of a highly skilled maintenance team supporting Navy tactical aircraft.
Key Responsibilities
Depending on level and experience, duties include:
Perform scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance, repair, and servicing.
Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair aircraft engines, structures, hydraulics, pneumatics, powertrain, electrical, and fuel systems.
Conduct pre-flight, thru-flight, and post-flight inspections.
Interpret and apply data from technical manuals, maintenance publications, and engineering drawings.
Document maintenance actions in aircraft logs and records in accordance with NAMP procedures.
Utilize tools and equipment such as torque wrenches, micrometers, and sheet metal fabrication devices.
Maintain compliance with all safety, quality, and maintenance standards.
Lead or supervise maintenance teams and provide technical guidance (Mechanic II and III).
Approve and inspect work performed by junior mechanics (Mechanic III).
Support Maintenance Engineering Changes (MEC), Estimated Cost of Damage (ECOD) reports, and other technical documentation (Mechanic II–III).
Position Levels
Aircraft Mechanic I (23021)
Performs routine to moderately complex maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair under general supervision.
Requires working knowledge of aircraft systems and components, with 1–3 years of relevant experience.
Aircraft Mechanic II (23022)
Performs complex maintenance and modification, often leading small teams or projects.
Provides input for MEC, ECOD, and MWO processes.
Requires 4+ years of aircraft maintenance experience; leadership experience preferred.
Aircraft Mechanic III (23023)
Serves as lead technician and supervisor for maintenance teams.
Performs, inspects, and certifies all levels of mechanical and structural work.
Provides advanced technical expertise and oversight to ensure aircraft readiness and compliance.
Requires 6+ years of maintenance experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory capacity.
Qualifications (All Levels)
High school diploma or equivalent; advanced technical or military aviation training preferred.
U.S. citizenship required per government contract.
Knowledge of aircraft maintenance procedures, documentation standards, and aviation safety.
Experience with military aircraft (F/A-18 series preferred).
Ability to read, interpret, and apply maintenance publications.
FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification preferred but not required.
